Glowering, Hermione pulls her ice cream out of Audrey's reach and curls protectively around it. "I don't own that many Weasley sweaters," she insists. "And I don't want to go out, Audrey - I just want to spend the break curled up in front of the fire with a book. I'll take a dress for Christmas Eve if you insist," she promises, hoping to head her friend off early because she doesn't know if she's really got the strength to withstand the barrage of girliness right now.

Audrey raised an eyebrow but did not contest the Weasley sweater point. Audrey knows Hermione is weak right now and plans to somewhat take advantage of this in a way that will eventually lead to happiness. She just knows it. "Well that's a start, and even if you're curled up by the fire I don't plan on letting you go to Bulgaria with just a pile of sweatpants. You're going to a new country, I know you, you're going to want to go out and explore, see the sights. For that you need cute winter clothes." Audrey took another spoonful of her own ice cream, smiling as the sweet chocolatey flavor washed over her tongue.

"I wasn't going to take sweatpants!" Hermione says, mentally crossing 'sweatpants' off her mental packing checklist. "Fine," she huffs, "what would you classify as cute winter clothes, anyway?" She shoves a couple of spoonfuls of ice cream into her mouth without really tasting it, wishing Audrey would spare her the pain but knowing that's not likely.

"Cute winter clothes are jeans and nice sweaters, ones that fit, and just nice things." Audrey shook her head, "I think you'll have to let me at your trunk before you go. And don't worry, I won't transfigure things," too much. She couldn't help but think that part, knowing it was true. Some things needed fixing.

Hermione makes a mental note to add an inch to everything Audrey touches, just to be on the safe side. "See that you don't, Audrey - last time you shrank a sweater, my mother was furious. I had to tell her the House Elves had had a mishap in the laundry!"

Audrey rolled her eyes, "Fine, but you know if you didn't buy sweaters in two sizes bigger than yours then we wouldn't have this problem. Anyway I happen to know you do have some nice things because I saw them so we'll just pack up those." She grinned and took another spoon of ice cream.

Hannah walks into the kitchen, hand in hand with Al. "Tea or coffee?" She asks him, dropping his hand so she can take off her coat. She was an expert at making both tea and coffee thanks to her part time job waitressing at the Leaky Cauldron. Walking over the the kettle she fills it up and points her wand at it, making it come to an instant boil.

Al grinned and took a seat on top of one of the tables in the kitchens. "I'll have some tea, thanks." He leaned back on his hands and watched her start to boil the water before realizing that he was being rather rude. "Need any help with that?"

"No, thanks." Hannah tells him, pouring two mugs of tea. She picks them up and, turning around to see him sitting on a table, a small smile touches her lips, "You know, if I was at work I'd have to kill you for that." She tells him, handing him a mug.

"Ah, but you're not at work," he tells her with a grin as he takes the warm mug from her, holding it in his hands for a moment and letting it warm him up before taking a small sip. "Where do you work?"

"That's true." She told him, hesitating for only a moment before she hopped up onto the table beside him. She blew on her tea gentle before taking a sip, "The Leaky Cauldron. Summer job." She told him, "They let me play music sometimes, so it all works out well."

"Really? That doesn't sound bad at all. Maybe I'll have to come by sometime to watch you play," he said with a grin. "So...Are you considering making a career out of music?" he asked curiously, realizing that he was a 7th year and still had no clue what he wanted to do with his life after he left Hogwarts for good.

"I don't know," Hannah told him honestly, "I think that would be really fun, but it would be really hard to get started. And I don't know if that would be the ideal thing for me. I like being busy, having lots to do." She shrugged, "I don't think I'll really know what I want to do until it jumps at me, y'know? What about you? Any idea?"

"I agree. The music industry isn't easy to break into, unfortunately," he sighed then took another sip of his tea. "I've thought abut it, but I really don't know. My dad was an auror...But that's not really my thing. I guess I'll figure it out eventually. Hopefully. I'm 17. No rush, right?"

"Definitely no rush." Hannah assured him, "I've heard of lots of people who took a year or two and just did nothing. You could travel, if you're into that." She shrugged, "Not really my thing, but most people love it. Maybe you could do music, with your harmonica skills."

Al paused with the mug at his lips as he considered this. Traveling and playing music in foreign countries, while meeting new people and learning new cultures. That actually didn't sound bad at all. "Huh. Maybe I'll consider that. I've never really traveled too much with my family in the past, but there are a lot of places I'd like to see."

"I use to, every holiday." Hannah smiled as she remembered, "My mom always insisted we go somewhere warm. I never liked it." She shook her head, "She didn't get that there's such a thing as too warm." She smiled and sipped at her tea, "I think the problem with going to a magic school is that everyone assumes they have to go on to work at the Ministry or something. You could always consider just doing a muggle job."

"Exactly! There's nothing wrong with going into a muggle job. I mean, the whole converting money thing might get annoying but it's not like it would take long to do that. And it'd be worth it if you're doing something you love." He thought about Scorpius wanting to become a tattoo artist. "I don't mind warm places, but I love the snow. I prefer it, actually."

"The snow is refreshing, isn't it? It always makes me feel like it's erasing everything I know, so I can start over. Winter is definitely my favorite season." She smiled, "I even like the cold sometimes. Mostly because it gives you more reason to sit by the fire with a warm drink and just do nothing. It must get awfully cold in the dungeons, though, doesn't it?"

"That's a nice way of looking at it," he thought out loud before taking another long sip of tea. "I like the cold too. It's not much fun to have tea and lit fires in the middle of summer," he chuckled. "The dungeons are freezing in the winter, but it's nice in the summer months. It's a lot cooler down there then it is in other parts of the castle."

"You're lucky in that way. Our common room is always so warm, probably since we're right next door," Hannah told him, pointing in the relative direction of the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room. "They always keep the kitchens so warm, we kinda get caught up in it. On the brightside, it always smells good." She added, laughing.

"Ha! That's true. And you're never far from a midnight snack," he said with a grin as he lightly nudged her arm. Gently, of course. He didn't want her to spill her drink and burn her hands. "You'd think the dungeons would be sort of suckish to live in, but they're really not that bad. And I'll let you in a on little secret; the Slytherin common room is underwater," he said in a hushed voice.

Hannah frowned, "It's a miracle you come to class dry everyday, then. What, do you live off gillyweed? I've heard that's bad for your skin." She teased him. Not that she's saying he puts a lot of work into keeping his face well moisturized. In fact, she's not getting any gay vibes at all. Strange... "I think you've just let me in on the best kept secret at Hogwarts. I'll now make it my life goal to find your underwater castle and take over it."

Al laughed and shook his head. "The Gillyweed is awful. It's why I spend so much time moisturizing," he teased back. "Good luck finding it. We're pretty well hidden, if I do say so myself," he said with a smirk. He sort of doubted anyone would ever find their way into the Slytherin common room. The password into the place was 'pureblood.' What other house member could possibly think of that? Al personally found it wrong to make that the password, but that's Slytherin house for you.

Hannah laughed, "Can't be too hard. I just have to look for a fish tank that looks suspiciously out of place." She bet the password was something ridiculous, like 'one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater'. Something easy to remember.
