Re: Parkinson Home
Draco had pretty much dumped his marshmallow in the fire and let it burn a bit before putting it into another s'more and eating it carefully, making sure he didn't get any of it on her. His other hand dropped his wand next to him and stroked his fingers through her hair, his fingers trailing over her cheek as he did. "You okay kitten?"
Re: Parkinson Home
He better not have marshmallow on his fingers or Pansy will be very displeased at him getting that in her hair. "Hm? Oh, yeah." She removed her marshmallow from the fire, floating it up above her head. She rolled onto her back and gently blew up at it, cooling it off a little before she would eat it. Part of Pansy just now objected to being called kitten and I am not sure why. Potentially just because her meat suit is currently grumpy, in which case it would be okay again tomorrow. Potentially because it reminds her of before when they fought, and it brings back sort of bad memories of the rougher times in their past.
Re: Parkinson Home
Really? Does he need to find a new pet name then? That's unfortunate. We'll think about it. He would never ever get marshmallows in her hair either, he'd be too afraid of what she would do to his hair in revenge. He kept running his fingers through her hair as she moved onto her back, "So what's up? You're being quiet."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy looked up at him, always amazed that he paid so close attention to her. He always sort of had. When her friends were busy just worrying about a new shirt or a haircut or something, he was watching her, or more specifically her moods and facial expressions and the way that her emotions were making her behave. He'd become more attuned to it recently, over the past few weeks actually, but he had always known when she was lost in thought or feeling sad or ridiculously happy about something, no matter how she might have attempted to hide it. "I don't know. Just not feeling too talkative I suppose." She ate her marshmallow to avoid having to say much else, not quite sure why she was so quiet in the first place.
Re: Parkinson Home
He brushed her hair back and gave her a half smile, twirling her hair over her shoulder. "Alright, but if you want to talk I'm here, kay?" He kept his non marshmallow-y fingers stroking her hair and head as he relaxed back into the wall, watching some of the smoke tendrils curling up from their little fire. He wasn't sure what to make of her quiet but he hoped it wasn't from anything that had happened earlier that day. He didn't want her to be regretting everything that had happened between them, or at least not distancing herself from him because of it. She had seemed fine this afternoon so he wanted to believe it wasn't that only that left him completely confused about this whole thing.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy gently smiled at him, reaching up to brush her fingers briefly over his hand. "I know you are." She looked up at the sky, noticing the stars had started to peek out now. She looked them over for a little while, picking out which were which. She tried to piece together what was troubling her, and she just supposed it was the overall realization that Draco could never really be hers. Sure he was her boyfriend now, but he was also a servant of the Dark Lord, and she knew that came first. They would most likely both be married off halfway through the coming summer, and that would be that. He would have a wife and she would be disowned living on her own with Max, and though she was sure he would try to come look for her, or invite her to his home anyway, she knew it wouldn't exactly be proper, given their feelings for each other that would never fade. She hoped they would never fade. And that also scared her, the fact that she wondered what if she was in love with him. She glanced back at Draco's face, seeing that he still looked troubled, and knew she cared more deeply for him than she ever had before. She turned onto her side to face him a little, grabbing his shirt at his stomach and tugging on it a little. "Hey. It's alright."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco was unaware of her thoughts, lost in his own, and was pulled back, literally, when she tugged on his shirt. He half-smiled down at her and scooted down the wall so he could lean down and press a kiss to her forehead. "Okay, if you say so." He moved even further and tugged on her so she moved up his chest and his arm shifted to lie over her like a sort of fake blanket. He looked up at the sky and rolled his head to the side slightly, "So what's out tonight?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy let him pull her up to rest her head on his chest, rather limp as he put his arms around her to pull her up as he moved. She was still looking up at his face until he asked what was out tonight, and she blinked and quickly looked back up at the sky. "Um, the big dipper is there, it's easy to see. If you follow the line of it's handle, Arcturus is bright tonight, and just past it, so is Spica. Corvus and centaurus are a little harder to see. Oh, and you can see part of Virgo over there, just where the wall starts to block out the sky." She pointed around wherever she was talking about, her arm eventually falling back to rest on her stomach just below his, her fingers tracing over his forearm slightly as she fell silent again.

Re: Parkinson Home
Draco followed where she pointed and nodded even though she wasn't looking at him, "I see them." He smiled softly as she ran her fingers over his arm, moving his other to brush her hair back again, fixated on playing with the soft waves. They lay there for a while in silence before Draco spoke again, "Pans what's wrong? Is something up that I don't know about?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy stayed quiet even after he asked her what was wrong. Her fingers stilled and she wondered if, what, or how much she should even tell him. She turned and looked at him, chewing on her lip. "Just the same as always. It's nothing new, I promise. There's not really a need to talk about it again." Turning away from him again, her eyes wandered, as if they could decide what to stare at instead of him.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco let her brush it off but was still concerned, not used to her acting this way. A little part of him wondered if it was just girly hormones but he knew she wasn't as prone to those as girls like Astoria were so he knew he would really keep on worrying about it and just not tell her. After a little bit more quiet he shuffled them around again so now she was lying next to him and he could rest his cheek against hers, seeking more contact from her because of what felt like an emotional withdrawal.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy stayed rather limp, though did help with moving herself as he pulled on her to bring her up beside him. She stared up at the stars blankly, her cheek against his, her arm resting on his chest. She turned onto her side, curling into him and resting her knee over his thigh. A tear threatened to escape her eye, but she blinked quickly to get rid of it, determined not to do that tonight. She could tell Draco was still alert to what she was doing, trying to read her and figure out what was bothering her. Knowing he wouldn't stop worrying unless she gave in and told him what it was, she sighed softly and whispered to him. "I'm just disappointed we can't have forever." Muggles could get forever, and mudbloods and halfbloods and squibs and everyone else it seemed. They all picked their forevers, chose who they wanted to be with for always. But Pansy couldn't accept the fact that it was up to their parents who they would be with. All for the purpose of reputation and connections and money. "I only want you."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco waited for her to speak again, still looking up at the night sky. All the stories they had always learnt about the constellations had been tragedies, or single heroic men who had died fiercely in battle. He looked down for a second as she started to speak then lay his head back again to look into the darkness again. He tightened his arms around her when she mentioned forever, wishing the same thing but knowing just as she did that it was an impossibility, something they could only dream about. He kept looking even when she spoke again, his mind reeling. It was about as close to any real confession of feelings either of them had come. His fingers didn't move still wrapped around her waist and his head lying softly against hers, both of them so silent he could both feel and hear her breathes. His thoughts were still in a huge jumble but he knew he had to speak, to say something and make her realize that she wasn't alone in feeling this way, that what they had between them and what they couldn't have in the future weighed on his mind too. However when he opened his mouth to speak the words changed themselves into something he hadn't expected, "I love you."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy hadn't realized the gravity of what she said until she noticed how quiet it was in the moments after. Even though he tightened his grip around her, she couldn't help but worry. What if she had said too much, what if he didn't feel the same, what if by saying she only wanted him, he would get nervous and back off, or if he took it the wrong way and thought of it as a physical want, which though she liked him in that respect, it was far from what she wanted any time soon at all. Her eyes remained on the stars for the entire time, unable to look at him, afraid of what she might or might not see in his expression. Finally he answered her, and though it was almost what she had hoped for, it was the last thing she expected to hear him say. Ever. She never would have imagined those words coming out of Draco's mouth, she'd even talked about that with Scorpius before. She had always figured it would be an unspoken love with him, that he would show her rather than telling her, significant hugs instead of words, glances across the table in the great hall instead of little whispers like other couples shared, and somehow it was all the more significant knowing that he was not one to say things like that lightly. And she knew it wasn't something he would tell her often, but she didn't want him to. She only wanted to hear it when he truly truly felt it strongly enough to say it, when she most needed to hear it and only then. But even as her little bit of relief and happiness was still glimmering, she had a moment of panic. No, no he couldn't because they couldn't stay together and being in love with each other would only make the separation worse when it had to happen, and the last thing she wanted was to fall in love now only to have him taken away from her later, and without realizing it, the tear that had threatened escape earlier was now rolling down her cheek as she tried to figure out how she should even begin to react to this news.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco felt the same worries she did in the quiet after his statement. Hey lay there next to her for a few moments and waited for her to speak but as time elapsed he realized maybe she wasn't going to. He moved, shifting his arm from around her to twist and prop himself up next to her so he could see her face. He saw the one tear trailing down her face and reached out, brushing it away. He tried to remind himself that it could be from happiness but he knew Pansy so well that there was no way he could honestly deceive himself that way. He shouldn't have said what he said but there was nothing he could do about it now. The words were out there and as unexpected as they were he knew they were true. He lay on his elbow, carefully watching her and waiting for her to speak.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy couldn't think of what to say, what to tell him. She kept staring at the sky even as he sat up, wiped the tear from her face, and watched her. She was quiet a little while longer until she finally shifted her eyes to rest on his, just holding his gaze for a moment in the silence. She sat up, turning to face him. Her fingers gripped his shirt absentmindedly as she spoke to him. "You can't." She was nearly begging him, wishing maybe he didn't so that it would be easier later. "Please, don't." Her eyes were sad, but she tried to be assertive in what she was saying to him. Ignoring the question of if she loved him, she tightened her fingers on his shirt, leaning closer with nervousness. She reached up and touched his face, her fingertips resting lightly on his cheek, slipping to his jaw carefully as if she was trying to remember it's angles and his pale skin, the face of the boy who loved her. "That'll only make it hurt."
Re: Parkinson Home
He looked at her as she clutched to him, sitting up straighter as his own hands settled on her hips. He looked at her, moving to brush away the next tear that fell as she ran her own fingers over his face. He knew she was only saying that because of what had to happen between them, what was going to happen over the summer when his parents made a choice and forced them apart, but that didn't make it any easier to hear. Especially from her, after what she had said. His fingers dropped from her cheek and fell between them, "I'm sorry, but I can't change it and even if I could I wouldn't."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy watched as he sat up, still holding feebly to his shirt as he put his hands around her, brushed a tear away. Listening to him, she once again couldn't find anything to say, in shock that he loved her and was insistent about it, even though they both knew it'd only end in heartache. Instead of just staring at him, or tripping over herself trying to find something to say, she leapt forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, hiding her face in his shoulder and clinging to him so tightly. She never wanted to let go of him. Amid a few tears, she only managed to say his name, still holding desperately onto him and processing the facts of the little things he had said to her tonight.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco was surprised when she moved into his arms, but he wrapped them around her and rested his head against hers, biting his lip slightly when she let out his name. His head dropped down further and his arms tightened, holding her close and staying silent. He had put the truth out there and didn't know what he could do now. He moved so he was leaning back against the wall, still holding tightly to her and helping her shift so she was more in his lap now, arms still around each other.
Re: Parkinson Home
His arms closing around her was the most comforting thing right now. The sweatshirt of his she had borrowed was warm, but nothing like having his arms wrapped around her, holding her close to him. Her hand tightened at the back of his neck, her other hand sliding down to rub his back a moment before closing around his neck again. She moved with him as he readjusted, sliding up into his lap a little as she still clung to him. She wanted to hold onto him forever, to just hide in this tower with him forever. To hear that he loved her had been all she ever wanted for so long, she couldn't believe the first thing she said back to him was 'you can't'. She took a breath, her face still hidden away in his shoulder. "Please never stop." Never stop holding her, never stop comforting her, but really what she meant was never stop loving her, because she knew though situations would change, her feelings wouldn't, no matter what.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco moved his hand up to stroke her hair as she spoke again and he put his lips near her ear, wrapping himself around her as best he could sitting there, "Never." He knew that right now they had crossed another line and though he knew it wasn't something they should never have brought up but now that they had he couldn't stop thinking about it. He had always had hopes that he would marry someone he was friends with, he had hoped for Pansy for that reason, but now he realized that he didn't want to settle for that. For the first time he truly understood why Scorp had done what he had but in the same moment he knew he could never follow in his cousin's footsteps.
Re: Parkinson Home
If anything, this made it more certain that Pansy would be running away. If he loved her, he wouldn't want to marry someone else. She knew he had to, and for that to happen and remain successful, she had to be far away, out of the picture and moving out of his mind, at least a little bit. Even if she stayed and he got married and it went smoothly, she would still be there, still be a distraction to him that he didn't need, that he shouldn't have. If she could remove herself from the situation, then there was no reason why she shouldn't. For his sake, she had to. She knew she could figure something out on her own, and didn't mind her mother hating her guts forever. Her father would understand, at least a little, and maybe would secretly help her out. She sighed and sat up a little, looking at him sadly with tears still streaked down her cheeks. Putting her hand on either side of his jaw, she leaned forward and kissed him softly before putting her head back on his shoulder, one arm wrapped around his shoulders, the other resting on his chest. Right over where his heart was.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco moved a hand up to cup the back of her head when she kissed him, still cradling it when she cuddled back onto his shoulder. He felt her and resting on his chest and let out a sigh. He had seen her tears and they had hurt but he knew that at least for now he could hold onto her and be with her for now. Sitting there he held onto her and knew that no matter what happened his feelings for her wouldn't ever change. He supposed that even though he had never let himself think it before he had loved her for a long time and now it was out in the open.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy was glad he kept holding onto her, and though the silence was a little pained, it was nice at the same time. Everything that was unsaid between them was still communicated as they held onto each other like they were all they had. She tugged on him a little, moving around and rearranging them so that she was curled sideways on his lap, her head on his chest and arms wrapped around his waist, letting him slouch against the wall more comfortably as she laid on him. "Can we just stay here tonight?" She nuzzled her head against his chest slightly. "I don't want to go anywhere." Looking at the fire as it died down, she watched how the embers glittered like stars, and then turned her attention back toward the sky again.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco rested his chin on her head as she moved around and looked at the fire with her, half wondering how cold it was going to get and if he should stoke it up and half deciding that they would be fine snuggled up together. He moved and pressed a kiss to her forehead, smiling slightly, "Yeah, I don't want to go either." There was so much more between them that they weren't saying but after so long he knew they didn't need to, it was all out there now and though it would hurt in the long-run for now he couldn't stop some happiness from bringing out a smile and letting him close his eyes and hug her close, just enjoying the moment.
