Re: Parkinson Home
This time it was Pansy who picked up her wand and made the fire grow, excessively so perhaps, but of course she never could quite control her magic as well when her emotions had taken over. She circled her wand a few times and created a blanket, letting it fall over them where they were. Turning a little bit, she moved so that she could better look up at the sky. Corvus was still visible overhead. "Do you know Corvus's story?" Her voice was quiet, but calmer now. "He was a crow, Apollo's bird actually. He was perfectly white, and he could speak. Apollo got him to look over his pregnant love. But she wasn't faithful, and Corvus told him so, and in anger, he turned the bird black and took away his voice." She turned to look up at Draco. "Unfair punishment for something he didn't do. Just more tragedies written in the sky." Settling down onto his chest again, she sighed and looked back at the sky. "Maybe we'll get up there someday."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco watched the fire roar up and pulled on the blanket to further wrap it around them, his arms tucked under it to better wrap around her. He looked up at the sky, not knowing exactly which constellation she was looking at. When she asked about the story he shook his head, knowing she could probably feel his movements behind her and that she would tell him anyway regardless of prior knowledge. He rested his head on her shoulder, “So it was a case of punishing the messenger then.” He turned his face away from the stars and pressed a kiss to her neck, “Maybe we will, but would people even care about our story?” He buried her face in his shoulder, “Considering how many people we know I don’t think anyone would step up to save us if we were in peril.” He knew that none of his friends and certainly no one in his family could be called upon by him to save him unless it was the family name at stake and even then his ‘friends’ who he had grown up with would probably relish the fall and use it for further political climbing.
Re: Parkinson Home
"I'm sure it seemed insignificant at the time, but someone found it interesting enough to write it in the stars. Just a crow turned black and silent, but someone cared. Maybe it's stupid, but I can always just pretend we'll end up there. One good thing to come out of all this." She stared up at the sky as he turned his face against her. She could feel the sadness permeating through him, how alone he really was. Sometimes, she felt like she was the only one who cared about him, or the only one who truly cared without condition anyway. "True. I think Scorpius is the only one who might care enough to try and save me, but if it means losing Al, sometimes I'm not so sure. I don't see nearly as much of him since they started dating. It's like I've been replaced." She sighed softly, curling closer to him. "I'm so easily replaced."
Re: Parkinson Home
His face pressed into her hair and he held her close, wishing he could say something to make her realize just how precious she was to him but he knew that right now she didn’t want to hear that. She was hurting now that they were talking about the future and their own tragedy and him rehashing what they felt for each other and what they were going to lose wouldn’t help at all. He stayed silent and simply let his presence tell her everything. He would never be able to replace her, even if after a long time apart he managed to find love with whoever he married it would never be the same thing he had shared with Pansy. With her it wasn’t only a form of romantic love and a certain amount of physical desire but it was all augmented by their experiences, their childhoods and all the times they had been there for each other even when their lives seemed hopeless and desolate. Although they had fought mere weeks ago Draco felt as though it had been forever ago, their new relationship and closeness bringing him new happiness that he hadn’t though he would have. He was almost afraid of what was between them now, knowing she was right when she said it would hurt them both and knowing that no matter what they did some hurts wouldn’t ever heal.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy had a hard time sorting out what was happening in her head. She knew what he'd said to her, and what was going to happen, what was happening now, and what had happened before. She understood it all, but when she tried to think of it as a whole, as all parts of one big story that would fit together, that was where she got lost in it, trying to figure it out. If he loved her, it terrified her to think of the future. Goodbye was going to be worse than expected if he loved her. Moving on would be next to impossible for her, knowing that the only one she'd ever wanted to be with had loved her back, and yet she couldn't have him. How the hell was she supposed to love someone else when the only love she wanted, she had, but lost it because her parents deemed it inappropriate or not good enough? How was that even fair? Maybe... maybe she could make herself not be in love with him. Maybe if she could work on not loving him so much, she could help them drift apart just a little bit, so that the end wouldn't hurt so much. She thought just maybe if she could not love him, maybe it would be better for them both, and they could move on and he could fall in love again with whoever his wife would be, and she could figure out whatever the hell she was supposed to do after that. Maybe that would work. She sighed and moved her arms from him to wrap around herself instead, staring sadly at the fire.
Re: Parkinson Home
He could feel her body tensing up before she pulled away from him and wrapped her arms around herself. He sat up straighter and put his arm back around her, leaning against her shoulder. "Pans? What's wrong?" He rubbed one hand over her back, wishing that this wasn't their situation and pressed a kiss to the back of her neck, "Well, not what's going to be wrong because right now we shouldn't worry about that." He ran his fingers over the nape of her neck and then moved and wrapped them around her again. "We still have a couple of months, we need to enjoy them while we can."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy didn't answer him, keeping quiet to keep from exploding or whining or anything like that. She let him wrap his arms around her again and she snuggled into his chest, but she kept her arms where they were. "I know. But the more that happens now the more it's going to hurt later and I don't know if I can deal with that, Draco." She reached up carefully with one hand, her fingers stroking over his cheek and resting on his face. "I don't want my heart broken because of you again and it's not even something that... I just don't want it to hurt, not any more than it's already going to." She pouted slightly, wrapping her hand behind his neck and curling into his embrace.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco cuddled her close, wishing he could do something and change all this. "Even if we try it'll still hurt, at least this way we'll have some happy memories. Nothing will be able to change the hurt we'll feel," He leaned back again, tucking her under his chin and pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "Even if we stopped now it wouldn't lessen the pain any." He closed his eyes, tugging the blanket a little closer. "This is our life, and right now getting worked up over it isn't going to help any."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy turned slightly, burying herself into him as well as she could manage. "Oh, Draco..." Her voice drifted off weakly, and her arms loosened from herself enough to cling to the front of his shirt. He said this was their life, and it was. They were born into families who were no strangers to enduring pain, or causing it, and it was expected that they would probably grow up to be just the same. An endless cycle that though childhood may make it seem as if there's got to be a way around it, generation after generation seems to fall into it without fail, cursing the fact that their parents were right. Purebloods didn't marry for love. Pansy held onto his shirt, her face hidden in his chest. "It scares me how much I need you sometimes. I can't need you like that once you're off and married. And I won't need anyone else the same that I need you."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco moved around her, enveloping her as best he could and letting her burrow closer. "But right now I'm here for you and right now being at the same school and trying to keep ourselves apart would hurt even more than any separation would this summer." He wished they had freedom and the ability to chose but he also knew that in any other life they wouldn't be the same people and a huge part of their relationship was based on this situation that they had been thrown into. He slipped his wand out of the blankets and flicked it at the fire to level it out and keep it steady for them and wrapped his arms back around her, "But there's no use letting your mind run in circles like this," his reached up with his fingers and drew circles on her temples. "Sleep now, we still have tomorrow and the days after it, nothing is changing that soon."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy couldn't think of anything else to say to him, and so she fell into a weighty silence, curled into Draco's chest as closely as she could possibly have been, her fingers grasping his shirt desperately. She moved one hand, and it traveled across his chest, up to his neck, and then back to his stomach again, as if she couldn't decide where to put it. Finally she stilled and closed her eyes, reaching for sleep. Paying attention to make sure he was doing the same, she stayed awake until she was convinced that he had fallen asleep first. Opening her eyes carefully, she peeked up at him, her sad mouth opening to whisper to his peaceful sleeping face before she snuggled in and fell asleep herself. "I love you, too, Draco."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco waited for her to calm down and settle before he let himself drift off to sleep. He slept well, despite their conversations earlier, and woke up the next morning now on his side, wrapped around her, the blanket still mostly covering them and the fire dying as the sun rose. He propped himself up on his elbow to check the light and decided it had to be somewhere around eight in the morning. Lying back down he cuddled her to him and rested his forehead against her back, fingers lacing through hers, not really making any effort to get her up.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy woke, Draco curled along her back, his hand clasping hers warmly. She sighed a little, letting go of his hand so she could roll over and face him. Tracing her fingers over his cheek, she smiled softly at him and waited to see if he was awake, or would wake up if he was sleeping. Short post is short.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco let her roll away and opened his eyes when she stroked his cheek, seeing her smile and returning it. He leaned in and gave her a gentle kiss on the nose. "Morning." His fingers reached out and wrapped around her again, not wanting to let go of her that soon. "Did you sleep well?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy laughed when he kissed her nose, returning the gesture with a quick peck on his own nose. "Morning. Pretty well, I guess. You?" She rested a hand on his side when he reached over to put his arm around her and hold her close. She was glad he did. The sun was up and the sadness had mostly passed, but having him close like this still was a necessary comfort. Though the conversation had passed and they had a night of sleep between then and now, she still wanted him to be close, and was still terrified of letting go of him.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco smiled and cuddled her up next to him, knowing that if he wanted the contact then she probably did too. "Not bad at all, especially not considering we're on a dirt floor." Looking up and over her shoulder at the door he frowned slightly, "So think a disillusionment charm to get back in the house again? Can't stay here too long before your father goes downstairs to find us."
Re: Parkinson Home
"Well, it's moss. Not too bad, and besides, we've ended up asleep out her a bunch of times before. Though, not in a really long time." She smiled at him, remembering all the times when they were little and snuck out here to look at the stars and play games or silly things and end up passing out in a little cuddly heap of blonde boy and dark haired girl, snuggling to keep warm. "Yes, that would probably be best. He won't be down until a bit before lunch though."
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco grinned at the memories and shrugged, "True. I just think he would take it a little differently now if he found us out here versus before." He lay his head back down again and looked at her, pushing her hair away from her face and pulling the blanket up around here even though they were going to get out from under it soon. "You feeling better then?" He didn't really want to bring up everything from last night but he had to make sure she wasn't still freaking out.
Re: Parkinson Home
"Yeah, somehow it's not quite the same, cuddling up at seventeen versus seven." She grinned at him as he pushed her hair away from her face. "Yeah, I think so. I guess it just worries me when it all crashes down, and then I can manage to push it away for a while longer. I can't promise it won't happen again, but I feel better now, yes. You're alright, too?"
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco nodded, "Yeah I'm alright. And if you ever need to talk about it I'm always here, even if you don't want to talk." He leaned in and gave her a soft kiss, resting his forehead against hers instead of pulling away. He wanted to remind her of what he had said last night but he knew it would still be in her mind and stretching things right now wouldn't help anything.
Re: Parkinson Home
"I know you are." She smiled at him, brushing her nose against his. "If I ever show up to you whimpering and looking generally hopeless, just hug me." Pansy sighed, closing her eyes and relaxing in his embrace. She let her mind wander a little, and was instantly reminded of those little tiny words he'd said to her last night, the ones that had taken her by surprise and flipped everything upside down. She couldn't help it. She nearly giggled to herself, though she stopped that, but the grin on her face was definitely not well hidden at all. Draco had told her he loved her.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco hugged her and nodded, "Always, even if you aren't hopeless or whimpering." Pulling back a little he saw her smile and smiled back, his fingers brushing over her cheeks and lips. "Happy?" He leaned in, giving her a kiss, his fingers wrapping up in her hair. He was glad he had said what he said last night, if felt like some sort of weight had been lifted. Now that the truth was out there he felt so much better.
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy nodded a little before he kissed her, and she was still smiling at him when he pulled away. "Is it true?" Her eyes roamed across his face before settling on his eyes again. She knew he didn't say things as serious as that if they weren't true, but she just wanted to hear him tell her that it was true. If he loved her, if Draco Malfoy really loved her, then the very thing that she'd been dreaming about for what seemed like forever was finally real.
Re: Parkinson Home
Draco waited until she met his eyes again before nodding, "Yes, I love you Pansy." His fingers reached out and ran down her cheek, "I really do."
Re: Parkinson Home
Pansy stared at that post and then smiled and pouted and smiled and pouted some more because it was so darn short. She grinned at him, but couldn't say it back, not that he was awake and looking at her. Something was stopping her from being able to form the words, no matter how much she would mean them. Instead, she just leaned forward and kissed him gently for a moment, leaning back again to rest her head against the grown and stare happily at him, reaching up to play with his hair.
