Lily raised an eyebrow at James's sudden ridiculous behavior. "James...you're acting like an idiot. Presuming you mentioned one of the Weasley twins, i'm going assume they did this to you...and they'll pay for it later. Although, if you're ATTEMPTING to say that you and I are dating, it's an attempt in vain. And a lie. You never asked me to be your girlfriend. Yes, we kissed. YES, I kissed you....neither of us ever said we were dating. Either way, Sev and I were just having a CONVERSATION." She tried to remain calm, but he was acting like a fool, and a stupid one.
Idiotic pranksters, and even more idiotic pranks. At his last words, she glared at him. "Is this supposed to be FUNNY, James Potter?! I'm having trouble seeing ANY amusement in this. "

[Lily is doing a wonderful job of ignoring James's pants anyway...and George, either way, Lily would've had to deal with it eventually, so she'd still be angry at you. But yeah. That's it. This is... interesting.]

Severus turned to face Lily, a little surprised at her words, but impossibly glad to hear them. "Potter, I don't know what the hell's wrong with you, but you're a sick bastard. Get away, now, before I make you leave. Neither of us need to listen to any of your jibberish and perverted nonsense, so fuck off," he hissed, moving in front of Lily protectively. "Did you not hear her? She doesn't want you. So go."

In any other situation Lily would've defended her feelings for James. No...I didn't say I didn't want him...I said we weren't together...but right now...he's not being anyone I want to be with.. Instead of denying it, she looked away from James for a moment before meeting his eyes again, but not glaring, and not doing anything to stop Sev's words or actions. She could stand up for herself, and knew it, but didn't really WANT to hex James, despite her anger and annoyance with him and his current behavior.

She watched him run off and shook her head. He better apologize for THIS later! She turned away from where James was running off, moving to sit back down on the blanket, eyes closed in determined concentration to calm down.

Severus sighed in relief as he ran off, and sat beside Lily. He smiled half-heartedly at her, draping an arm around her shoulders in a comforting manner. "Er... that was... interesting?" he said, still trying to figure out what the hell had just happened. "Remind me what you ever saw in him again?"

Lily felt Severus drape his arm around her shoulders, and heard his words. She merely shook her head, hands on her temples. "I can't BELIEVE that just happened. We were talking earlier and he practically IGNORED me...now...this prank war is SO idiotic. If he doesn't explain that later, he's in trouble. As is George Weasley. " She paused, trying again to release emotions, there were too many conflicting ones associated with James Potter in his more foolish moments. "He shouldn't have dared to come anywhere NEAR me with a prank like that one, spouting foolish phrases...Never thought he WOULD have dared. He can be alright, and usually is, especially around me...but this..he has some explaining to do. "

[Yes. It's annoying. More so if it affects those not just setting pranks on each other.

"Why do you even waste your time with him? I don't like the way he tries and controls you, Lily. Who the hell is he to say who you can and can't spend your time with? It just angers me, Lily, that he thinks he can have that kind of power over you. I'm just glad that you know better than to listen to a fool like him," he said, expressing his honest relief. "Don't worry about it anymore, though. He won't be there to bother us tomorrow," he said with a smile.

Lily opened her eyes and smiled up at Sev sadly. "Because he's not always like that. He just...got jealous and was pranked at the same time. Bad mix." Sev can't tell who I can or can't spend time with either...at least he typically isn't as violent about it. "Yeah..thats true.."

"I don't care if he's jealous! He can't go around doing things like that, it's not right, to you, or me, in this case. I didn't do anything wrong!" he said in frustration, burying his face in his hands. "I just want to be friends with you. I don't understand why so many people are trying to stop that," he said quietly, mostly to himself. "Am I that bad a person, that they think I shouldn't be around you?"

Lily wrapped her arms around Sev at his distraught expression and words. "No, no, not at all! You aren't a bad person! You can't want to be what you are anyway. They can't change that...don't worry. " She tucked a strand of hair behind his face, and turned his head to make him meet her eyes. "We're friends, you're not a bad person. " She smiled. "Maybe if I say it enough, you'll believe it too."

Severus relaxed in her arms, and returned her smile. "Thank you, Lily. That means a lot to me," he admitted, embracing her. "You're so good to me," he whispered into her ear, loving the feeling of being in her arms.

Lily pulled away from his hug after a moment, smiling slightly. "I'm glad. I don't like seeing my friends upset. " It felt strange, almost, to her. She didn't want Sev to be a 'friend with benefits', and she really did wish James wasn't making QUITE so much of a fool of himself...she had thought they'd be closer.

[Remus, Sam has Luna, I believe. Seriously though, Hermione can't ditch you! D: If she did, you'd have Tonks. Very Happy
