[hmm apparently Remus has to talk to Sirius or James about James yelling at Sirius for attacking Tam. but i'm figuring that's just so that Remus can put an even better word in for James so i'm still going to come here anyways.]

Remus was just wandering about when he saw Lily sitting near a tree. Remembering his promise to James to talk to her he walked over to her to talk. "Hey Lily. Can I sit down?"

She turned her eyes away from him when he mentioned James. "I'm fine. I don't know what there is to hear though. Things went back to normal. He, being an arrogant, violent, stalker jerk... and me, hating him. "

Remus looked down at the ground awkwardly. "Well...yeah I know he can be like that...but, he really does like you you know. And he isn't that bad all the time. The other day he yelled at Sirius for attacking Tam. It was quite surprising when I found out. He doesn't normally yell at Sirius, they're like brothers you know? James may act and do some really, REALLY, stupid things sometimes but most of the time his heart's in the right place. I'm not saying you have to give him another chance right away but...he'll get better I know he will. Then he won't be such a jerk all the time." Remus didn't know what else to say and hopefully he'd done a good job at putting a good word in for James. It was the least he could do for his friend. He also felt a twinge of guilt for doing this when he knew that Severus had feelings for Lily as well but, for some reason a small part of him almost didn't want Severus with anyone else...other than him. He shook his head violently to get rid of that particular thought and looked over to see how Lily would respond.

He yelled at Sirius? About him hexing a Slytherin... and he's not stupid, really... he had to have thought that through...wow... Lily shook her head, and bit her lip to avoid any emotion breaking through the shield she'd been tending to try and put up. He eyes lingered a moment longer on her feet before she turned and looked at Remus. "He likes me...sure...but loves me? What about that Remus? I don't want to be a pretty catch for him..I already came too close to that, and came out a fool... He's never shown he cares, Remus! Just that he wants to catch my eye, and if he won a smile from me, he'd flaunt it and say he'd won me over. I can't even consider trying to get to know him through the exterior idiot because it'd be frustrating, pointless...and I'm seeing less and less reasons why...though...him yelling at Sirius for what he did to Tam," She paused, and smiled slightly. "Certainly won him a few points...not that he needs to know that. " She sighed, looking back over the lake. "For a little bit, I thought he'd changed, Remus. I really did...then he came back and dashed any hope I had that he really had cared for me or missed me or anything...He was just back to showing off and tossing hexes around. I'm glad you stick up for your friend, and i'll listen to you as I won't for Sirius, but.. nobody can convince me to give him another chance, really, except for him..." Her words drifted off, and she played with a piece of grass between her fingers, wondering what Remus would say, as she herself had said all she thought she had to, at least for the moment.

"I really think he does love you Lily, he just doesn't know the proper way to show it yet." He figured he'd refrain from telling her how sad James had looked when he'd told Remus that he thought she hated him. Remus just really hoped James would get his act together soon so he wouldn't lose whatever chance he had left with Lily. She was a very nice girl.

Lily buried her face in her hands, slightly muffling her words. "God, Remus...he's such a fool, and now...I don't even know what to think. He infuriates me when we're together but...I..Too many people tell me he loves me, but he's yet to prove that... When he can show me he CARES, not wants me attention, but CARES...and doesn't make me furious...Then, Remus... I don't know how much more of me he'll have to win over. As it is, he doesn't seem to care, and every time he grins or smirks, I hate everything about him. His chances are minimal. Right now, I've got my friends...that's all I need, at least...that's what i've been telling myself for a while now. . Please Remus, either convince him to trail someone else, or help him learn some sense! "

[Yes, Lily is fairly confused. It's weird incorporating that they WERE dating for a tiny bit. O.o Also, in response to Sev crying, Lily hugs Sev. Smile

"I'll do my best Lily." He leaned over and hugged her. "I'll make him see sense, otherwise he's going to lose the chance to be with an awesome girl." He smiled at her hoping she'd cheer up a bit.

Lily smiled sadly, returning the hug. "This is crazy, Remus. Sometimes I really really wish I could just find someone totally separate from all of this drama. Thanks though. I just hate how conceited and stalker-ish he is. " She stood up, sighing. "I should probably go..I'll be in the common room if anyone needs me. I'll see you around, Remus. Thanks again. " She smiled and waved as she walked off toward the common room.

[Except that everyone is going to be under the influence of potions then, and i'm hoping to give mild Sevily it's ONE chance...plus Lily's going with Ron anyway. James just doesn't know that. Overall..not necessarily the best time, though James didn't get to see her in all her loveliness at the last dance, part of her will probably be trying to make him jealous Razz

*Hermione walks out of the castle, enjoying the fresh air after the crowded, closed in space of the common room. Truth be told, the smell of the blood was starting to get to her and she takes a few deep breaths, idly wondering if Remus ever caught up with Peter. She contemplates strolling along the shore of the lake, but spots Lily sitting quietly under a tree and decides to go say hello*
