Re: Rock outcropping overlooking the lake
*Hermione doesn't know how long she's been sitting on the ground, curled in on herself in a protective ball with thoughts running through her head at about a million miles a minute. The only thing that sticks in her head for more than a nanosecond at a time is that she needs to talk to Remus. Really talk to him, and have a hard, painful, honest conversation about their situation. About their Cub. She tilts her head back towards the sky in an attempt to get more air in her lungs, and spots a small, dark shape speeding towards her. Her response to the sight of the owl returning was neither eloquent nor ladylike, but it summed up her feelings pretty succinctly.*
Fuck.
*She tries to will the animal to turn around and go away, even for a few hours, but as she does not have Jedi mind powers, the owl approaches, landing in front of her, paper fastened to her clawed foot. When Hermione hesitates too long in relieving the owl of her burden, she earns a nip to the fingers from a sharp beak. She tugs the letter free and resists the urge to flick the owl in retaliation before it flies off. With shaking hands, she opens the letter and begins to read.*
Dear Hermione,
So now you’re pregnant? Is this some kind of joke? Unfortunately, we suspect not. What is going on at that school? I’m sorry but you’re absolutely right, we are very disappointed in you. We thought you were more responsible than this. You’re right about one thing – you do need us. So after discussing it, we’ve decided what we think is best and we hope you’ll understand we have your best interests at heart. We want you to come home as soon as possible. We want you to cut all ties with that school because clearly it’s no good for you.
You were so smart Hermione, had so much potential, and you’ve just thrown it all away. You’re just kids yourselves, can Remus provide for the child? You certainly can’t. How did you expect you would keep up with your studies, anyway? Your life, as you know it, is over.
Honestly, Hermione, we’re at our wit’s end with you. And it pains us to say it, but the only way we can consider helping you with the child is if you leave Hogwarts. And yes, that includes leaving Remus – that boy is clearly no good for you and we’re sure he wouldn’t want to be bothered with the child anyway. I know you think you’re in love and it’ll last forever, but this isn’t a game, Hermione. Your choice is simple – you can come home with us and we’ll do the best we can for you, or you could stay at Hogwarts, keep going down this road and end up alone.
Please understand that this is for the best and come home to us. We do love you.
~Mum and Dad.
*Ever so gracefully, Hermione drops the letter and turns to the side, vomiting until there's nothing left in her stomach.*

[Lol okies.
I think we know more of the extent of our addiction now. Considering we literally cry over things our characters go through...and all the rest of their emotions effect us.
oh crap someone's knocking at my door brb]

*Hermione gasps as the wave of nausea subsides at last. She shudders and reaches for her wand, vanishing the mess and cleaning herself up. She crawls to the edge of the lake and dips a hand in the water to rinse her mouth out and wash her face, the freezing water from the lake mixing with the tears she doesn't even realise have rained onto her cheeks. She settles back again, picks up the letter and crumples it in her hand, watching the paper crinkle and crush between her fingers.*

Re: Rock outcropping overlooking the lake
[okies that didn't take long hahahahaha I had a hard time explaining why there were tears in my eyes. I just said 'oh well my friend is pregnant and her parents are giving her a rough time about it' didn't want to creep him out by saying 'oh well I got my fiance pregnant and now her parents are being jerk faces' He'd think I was really weird. lol]
Remus returns from Cyberland and walks outside to get air, trying to calm himself down from his parents letter. He spots Hermione. Once he gets close enough he can feel the anger, sadness, and ill feelings rolling off of her in waves. He drops down beside her and silently pulls her into his arms.

[BAHAHA]
*Hermione melts into Remus instantly, spending a few moments just taking what comfort she can from his silent presence. Then she gives herself a mental forehead slap and pushes herself away so she can turn and face him properly, the letter crushed in her fist still.*
Remus, I have to ask you something and I need you to be completely honest with me.

[*flails* Remus is pissed off right now and it's making me angry too *flails more*]
Remus sees the letter clutched tightly in her fist and understands now why she was so angry and upset. Obviously she had written to her parents as well. And he was guessing their reply, like his own parents, had not gone well. He stared back at her and nodded, still not trusting himself to speak.

*She takes a deep breath, forcing herself to hold his gaze. She reaches out for one of his hands with her free one.*
Before we take this whole crazy thing any further, I want to know what you want to do. And I mean that. I don't want to hear what you think I want. I don't want to hear what you think is right. I just need to know: what do you want?

Re: Rock outcropping overlooking the lake
"Well," Remus took a deep breath before continuing, "I know...that we're a bit over our heads at the moment but..." He bit his lip, "I want to do this Hermione. I don't want us to give up just because almost everyone around us is telling us that we're going to fail, that we're not ready. What else would we do, give the child up? If it comes to that decision I'll do it but, I won't like it." He gripped her hand tightly. "We may be young but we are responsible. This one slip up doesn't mean that all of a sudden we're irresponsible, and that we can't figure out what the hell we're doing." He turned his face towards the lake, his lip curling up in a slight sneer, remembering what his parents had written. "Though I guess you'll want to be careful, me being dangerous and all."

*She turns towards the water too. His grip on her hand is so tight it hurts, but she squeezes back as hard as she can anyway. Her eyes shine with tears - she's still angry and heartbroken and scared, but she's also happy to have Remus' honest answer, to know he really is going to go down this path with her.*
Yeah, and you might want to reconsider throwing your life away on a whore like me, just ask your best mate.
Don't say that! *she says sharply.* We've been over this honey, I'm not afraid of you and I never will be - you won't hurt me, or the cub so please try to stop tormenting yourself with those ideas. Do you really think I'd be putting either of us in a situation where something could go wrong - I'd never do that to you and you know it.
*She breaks off, softening.* Thank you. I just wanted to make sure you were happy, I didn't want you to be throwing your life away on something you didn't truly want. I... I want this too. I just can't stand the thought of giving it up, no matter what everyone else says. Even if it means we're on our own, we'll be together and we'll make it work somehow.
*Thinking of her parents' letter then, she starts to cry silently, because now she really is on her own in the world, there's no safety net, no backup plan. Just her and Remus and whichever of their friends stick by them now.*

Re: Rock outcropping overlooking the lake
Remus was heartbroken to see her crying. They should be happy! They were happy. It just sucked that it seemed almost everyone was against them and were determined to ruin their happiness. He hugged her tightly, letting her cry into his shoulder. "That's right. We are together, and we will make this work the damn best we can." He kissed the top of her head. "Do you want to read mine first or shall I read yours?" He knew she'd understand he meant their parent's letters, and he also knew already that he was not going to like whatever her parents had written to her.
