"She isn't. It's some sick, disgusting prank from her sister. Who, APPARENTLY, BECAUSE NOBODY TOLD ME, is TAM. So Peter found out and told me," he said, his eyes wandering against his will. Oh Merlin, look at that rack! He looks up at Katie in surprise when she said she'd saved Reg's life. "Saved his life? Quit with the drama queen act, all I did was rough him up a little, and he deserved it. And he's not my brother. My brothers are James and Peter and Remus. Regulus is not my family," he said coldly.

"Oh thank merlin she isn't. No doubt carry the evil of your spawn WOULD HAVE KILLED HER EVENTUALLY!" Katie spat out at him, either way, he had treated her badly, and that was not on. "Drama queen? His head was bleeding unstoppably. He would have died if I had left him there!" She screamed at him. How did he not get this? "And whether you want to believe it or not, at some point the boy you used to call brother looked up to you. But thats over now. Well done" She said in a low harsh voice.

Sirius rolled her eyes at the comment about evil spawn. "I'm not a fucking incubus Katie!" he yelled back, looking at her like she was mad. Sirius was taken back to hear that Reg had actually been badly injured- he hadn't meant to really hurt him, and some part of him, some tiny part felt guilty. "I- I didn't realize..." he said quietly, his voice trailing off. "And he never looked up to me. He has always hated me, the same as our mother and father. He's one of them, and he never cared about me either. So don't try and guilt me!"

"Really? I WAS FOOLED!" She screamed at him, "And how would you know? Huh? You reject Reg the moment he entered this school. You never even tried! And now you almost kill him! I don't care what you say," He voice sofened, "but this is not you Sirius. You are so much better than this..." He eys dropped and her shoulders sagged.

"Try?! What was I supposed to try and do, exactly? What do you want me to do, baby the guy who calls me 'filthy blood traitor' every chance he gets? Thanks, but I'll pass. He and the rest of his stupid Slytherin friends can kiss my ass with their wizarding superiority bullshit. That just doesn't sync with me," he replied, but the anger in his voice is gone by the end. He takes a step towards Katie and places a hand on her shoulder. "Katie- please- you don't know him like I do. He deserved it."

Katie felt her skin warm under his touch, yet she wanted to shake it off, "You complain about the blood wizarding superiority shit, yet you think you are superior to the Slytherins don't you? Don't deny it. I see you around then." Katie stepped away from his touch, "I don;t know him like you, but maybe... just maybe he is as lost as you were? Maybe he is just into deep. That doesn't mean you should give up" She stared intently at Sirius.

"He is nothing like I ever was, or am now. We are as different as can be AND NOT IN THE CUTE AVPM SENSE." Sirius frowned when she stepped away from his touch, and moved closer, gently placing his arms around her in a half-hug. "Katie, listen to me. Yes. I think that anyone who can understand that blood doesn't matter in the least are better than those idiots. I won't deny that. But that's not wrong. What they do is wrong. What Regulus supports is wrong. I want nothing to do with someone like him."

Katie leaned into him almost defeated, BUT NOT QUITE, "But how do you know? What if he can changed," She looked up at him. "You can't lable him for life. Can't you at least try? I know you would never forgive your self if you gave up now. It isn't all black and white. There is both good and evil in all of us. Its which you chose to act on. Maybe Regs a little lost?" She knew she was pushing her luck keeping on about Reg, but she couldnt let it go. Not yet.

"Change? You think he's changed? That's laughable. I spoke to him, actually spoke to him, a few months ago. You know what he told me? How he was going to join You-Know-Who as soon as he possibly could. I'm sorry, but I don't see how that screams 'change' at all," he said, pulling her closer into an embrace. "Katie. Please. Stop. You don't know him."

"I'm sorry. You are right. I don't know him." She finally gave in and hugged him back, feeling closer to him than she had in a long time, "What happened to us? When did we get like this? Drifting apart?" She asked.

Sirius placed a finger over Katie's lips to silence her, looking at her with a genuine smile. "Shh. Less talking, more hugging," he said with a grin, hugging Katie close. "I don't know. But it can change. We're still friends."

She fell quiet at Sirius finger on her lips and hugged him, "Forever?" She said childishly.

Sirius laughed and hugged her tight. "Forever. Promise. Friends."

Katie froze at the word. Firends. That was all they would ever be. Friends. She pressed her face into his chest hiding the tear so that he couldnt see it fall. It hurt badly, if she couldn't be with him, then she would do her duty as the best friend, watch him go through countless girls, knowing she would never be next, that it would never be her he would ask to Hogsmeade, never her that he would greet with a small kiss. Never her.

Sirius holds her for a little while longer, running his fingers through her blonde hair a bit before finally pulling away. He smiles at Katie. "I need to get going. But I'm glad we're on better terms," he said, looking into Katie's eyes with his own intensely gray ones.

"Okay" Katie whispered, looking in his eyes only for a second, before she had to look away. She gave hima breif hg and kiss on the cheek and left.

Liz walks on the beach, hair whipping about her face, and decides to go swim around in the water.

Regulus wanders out to the beach on the night of prom, feeling insanely lonely. There was no way in hell he'd stay in the common room listening to the fourth years bitch about being too young to go, so he'd left quietly and come out here alone to walk along the shore under the stars. He kicks off his shoes and socks and rolls up his jeans, and proceeds to walk along the water's edge, wishing he had his Viktor. He pulls the chain out from inside his shirt and fingers the ring attached to it, biting his own lip to remind himself that he'd never put it on again, Viktor was never coming back.
