*Hermione sits on the blanket, performing all sorts of cushioning and barrier charms to make it safe for the baby before laying her down. Because she's an anal retentive mother. Deal with it. The poor kid has an OCD father and an anal retentive mother. Whatever. She smiles, running a finger along the baby's cheek. Kiora was more interesting to her than cheese. THAT'S how much she loves her baby. A lot.*

*Hermione thinks that if the baby has her hair, there's gonna be some problems here. Barely managing to tear her eyes away from Kiora, she looks through the picnic basket. The first thing she pulls out is strawberries. Oh, the memories. She giggles and looks up at Remus.*

Maybe we should save these for later?

*She pulls out some cheese and crackers instead.*

Remus is pretty sure his face turned slightly pink when she held up the strawberries and giggled. "Only if there's chocolate sauce to go with them." He grinned and snagged a couple of crackers. He wasn't in the mood for cheese right now...though Amethyst is. *is angry our house is currently cheeseless*
He watched Kiora, smiling at how adorable she was.

[oh noes! we had a wine and cheese thing for work last night, and there was HEAPS of leftovers, so I have had SO MUCH CHEESE in the last 24 hours! *sends some to you*]

*Hermione laughs, loving the little tinge of pink on Remus' cheeks. She also likes the way he thinks. Leaning over, she picks up one of Kiora's tiny hands and kisses it before settling it back on the blanket. Then she reaches for the cheese. Remus can have the crackers, Hermione's more than happy to eat straight cheese, like Lenore does even though Andrew yells at her for it. Whatever. He just has no imagination.*

Hmm, I like that plan, honey. I hope Lily was serious about demanding babysitting rights, because she might find herself on cub duty sooner than she thought!

Remus laughed and nommed on a cracker. "Lily will do a great job at babysitting. And she really did seem serious when she asked. So I guess she won't mind." He laid back on the blanket next to the baby and held one of her tiny hands in his. "Hey there Kiora."

I think she does want to help. It's just strange, thinking of leaving Kiora with anyone but you.... But, we can't exactly be taking her to classes all day so I guess I've got no choice but to get used to it...

*She trails off, watching Remus lay down and take his daughter's hand. She was so small, so delicate, that his hand completely engulfed hers. She wishes she had a camera as she lays on her side, Kiora between them, playing gently with the baby's tiny fingers.*

*Hermione glowers, then leans over to kiss Kiora on the tummy, talking softly to the baby but doing that thing where the information is really for Remus' benefit too. That's so annoying. But whatever, this is an adorable scene, so I say it's adorable right now.*

Mummy's going to make a list of people who aren't allowed to be left alone with you. Yes she is! Yes she is, my precious little girl. There's going to be no evil motorcycle rides for my baby!

Remus smiles and nods in agreement. "And no flying on brooms until you're 5. Though I think I'd rather wait till you were 11...but 5 can work. Otherwise Viktor's going to get annoyed that he has to wait so long." He turned on his side so he could see them both better.

That's right, no flying for you, my darling girl. Uncle Viktor will just have to be patient. And Uncle Sirius will just have to get used to the idea that Lupins and flying motorcycles are separate entities, and never the twain shall meet.

*Hermione smiles and reaches over, lacing her fingers with Remus'. It was a funny thing, to think her entire world could fit on a blanket. But here it was, in the two people in front of her. She sighs, thinking of the things that still need to be done - choosing godparents, working up the courage to send that letter to Tam, she vaguely wonders if Remus has written to his parents about the birth yet... But for now, none of it matters. She just wants to lay here with the two most beautiful, important people in the universe, and forget everything else. She looks between her husband and her daughter, speaking to them both.*

Remus smiled back and kissed her hand. "I love you both very much." It was so strange to think they were parents now, oh and speaking of parents...he guessed he should write to them at some point. But right now it didn't matter. He wanted to enjoy this peaceful moment together with his two most favorite people EVER.

*Hermione is still smiling, because jeez, she always is these days. She gathers Kiora up and rolls onto her back, laying the baby against her chest and tracing her nose gently with her fingers. She loves that nose - a perfect little miniature of Remus' nose. It's beautiful. She pats the blanket next to her, inviting Remus to shift closer. Food be damned - even cheese can't compare with this.*

So, while you were napping earlier, Sirius popped into the dorm to visit.

*Hermione is eternally grateful for the baby having Remus' nose, that works wonderfully with her eyes if she does say so herself, and INSISTS THAT THE BABY SHALL NOT BE CURSED WITH HER HAIR, DAMMIT! She inclines her head a little, resting it up against Remus' chest, just for a little contact between them. She shrugs lightly.*

Well, we didn't wake you with our screaming, did we? No, he was fine. I think Kiora's got herself another fan.

*She chuckles.*

He's insisting on chastity belts and shotguns for her protection. It was kind of adorable, really.

She's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and it's no wonder everyone she meets falls instantly in love with her. It doesn't hurt that she's as sweet as her Daddy, too....

Well Sirius says he's not taking her on his motorcycle til she's seven, or letting her ride alone til she's twelve. So I say we just let him live in hope, and worry about bursting THAT little bubble when she reaches seven! He'll have to content himself with the headbanging and leather jackets, I'm afraid.
