*Hermione is sad about the loss of potential books. She finishes feeding Kiora and grins down at Remus, holding the baby out for him to burp because she took care of that last nappy change, so it's his turn to do something gross.*

At this point, Remus just wants his books to be SAFE. He took the baby into his arms and did that whole burping thing. He chuckled a bit when she let out a big burp. "Don't let Sirius hear you doing that, Kiora. Or soon he'll be challenging you to a burping contest. And you won't be winning that one."

[gaaaaaaah I hate when small mice or squirrels get in the walls of our house. you can hear them!!! it's freaky!!!]

Remus laughed too. "Yeah." He held her hand in his, marveling at how tiny it was. She really was adorable. And he still couldn't get over the relief he felt from finding out that she wasn't going to be a werewolf like him. All that worry for nothing. They'd have to be careful with her hearing though. It was going to be sensitive like his, and probably even more so since she was a baby.

*She smiles and lays her head on his shoulder, reaching out to trace a feather-light finger over Kiora's features. She sighs. She's been putting this off for too long.*

We need to talk about her godparents, honey. It worries me, not having anyone there if anything ever happens to us.... I mean, I know she's loved, and I know everyone will care, but... we should be clear about what we want to happen.

Remus laughed. "Sirius wouldn't like that, I bet." He sighed too and nodded. She was right, they did need to talk about it. "That's true. And she would have lots of people who'd want to take care of her, but being specific about what we want to happen will probably save a lot of trouble." He bit his lip and frowned. His original suggestion had been Dean, he loved his brother after all and knew it'd make Dean happy, but with everything that Dean was dealing with right now...well, Remus would see what Hermione had to say. "I know I originally suggested my brother...but, I think he has a lot to deal with right now. He, well, got really drunk a bit ago and then earlier I got a letter from him saying he'd left the school. He went someplace secret to cool off, and hopefully get himself under control." I am going to KILL him when he gets back, then maybe yell at him...then definitely give him a big hug. Though Remus wouldn't REALLY kill his awesome brother. He's just going to tackle hug him and never ever let go.

*Hermione's eyes widen a little as Remus tells her what's been happening with his brother. She slips a supportive arm around his shoulders, giving a little squeeze.*

I'm sorry to hear that, honey. I hope he knows we're here for him... Hope he's alright. I - I think you're right though - he does have a lot to deal with. And as much as he loves Kiora, I don't think it's fair to him to ask him to take on that responsibility right now.

*Gently, she extracts her daughter from Remus' arms, because her arms feel strangely empty when she's gone more than a few minutes without holding Kiora these days. She keeps her eyes on the tiny face nestled in the blankets, a constant reminder that their decision needed to be the best thing for her.*

I think.... well, like I said before, I don't think it's fair to Peter, it would be insensitive to ask him. And Sirius.... he loves Kiora, I know he does - you should've seen the look on his face when he met her, I've never seen him like that before. But I'm not quite there yet. I can't just forget how he treated me before. I'm sorry - I'll get there, but now is just not the time. I do think we should ask James if he'll be godfather. I'm sure he could handle it.

*She looks up at Remus, waiting for his input*

Remus nodded in agreement about Dean. He really hoped that once his brother returned he'd be doing much better. Remus felt terrible that he couldn't do more to help. He stared at the adorable baby and then looked back up at Hermione. "You know, I'm pretty sure James could handle it. Let's ask him when we see him next!" He smiled.

*She lifts Kiora and kisses her cheek before settling her back down. She chews her lip.*

I'm going to take her to see Tam, I think. If Tam will even let me, that is. I don't even know where she is right now.... but I'll try. I just think, if nothing else, I should find out if she's ok, what's going on... I can't see her as Kiora's godmother now, though. But she won't go without, will she? I'm sure that if James ever needed a hand, Lily and Sirius and Viktor would be there...

Remus nodded. "James will have plenty of people to lend a hand if he needs it." He worried about Tam and how she was doing. It was still weird that she'd just left like that. "I hope you can find Tam...I do worry about her. If you find her, let her know that I hope she's doing well."
