Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi immediately flinched away from his touch, body automatically bending to protect her face. She knew that her response told him too much. She quickly composed herself, rearranged her body until she was standing tall and poised. "I didn't mean I as in me." She gave a horribly fake laugh. "Don't be silly." Her eyes darted around looking for an escape. "It was just because when I was trying to interpret it, I was speaking in first person." She tried to yank her wrist free, biting down hard on her lip when she banged on of her bruises on Ted's arm.

Ted felt and saw her movements, as quickly as she tried to regain her composure, and knew what it meant, as much as he didn't want to believe that something like that was happening to her. "Andi," he didn't even realize he had cut off her name, "Stop for a second." When she was still he quickly tugged up the sleeve of the arm he held in his grasp and cast finite incantatem. He couldn't hold back his gasp at the bruises that littered her arm in various stages of healing, her name slipped through his lips on an exhale, "Andi"

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi pulled away from Ted. "Just leave me alone." She pulled out her own wand and began casting spells hastily, rebuilding the layers of glamor that masking her abused body. The incantations started to come out muddled as she started to cry. "This is why I can't tell him I want flower girls." She continued to cast the spells, motions getting more and more erratic. Andi knew if she didn't calm down, she'd hurt herself. "Well, what are you going to do?" She spun around and glared at Ted. "Lecture me about how I don't deserve this because you are such a nice guy? Tell me I need to get help, need to get away?" She was suddenly angry, bubbling over with rage. "Well, let me tell you something. If I want money and a family, I have to put up with this. If I break up with Evan, I get disowned. I am an alliance, and if I screw this up... they'd kill me. I ruined an alliance with the Flints. I can't ruin this. I need clothes, food, a home after graduation. At least with Evan I know I'll get that. And once he gets me pregnant, he'll be off and leave me alone." She choked back a sob. "What else can I do?"

[I and Draco are just focused on killing Evan. Ted wants to comfort Andi]
Ted changed his grip on her wrist as she pulled away and watched sadly as she started casting spells, worrying more and more as she got hysterical. He reached out and wrapped his fingers around hers, pulling her wand away, "Stop it Andi. Stop." He didn't know what to do to help her so he did the only thing he could think of and stepped forwards to pull her into a gentle hug, making sure not to put any pressure on any of her parts in case she had more bruises. Not that it was an incase, he was certain she had more bruises. One of his hands moved up to cup the back of her head, "You can't let him do this to you, your parents would stand behind you on this. No union is worth this, no matter what."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi let Ted pull her wand away as she collapsed into tears. She melted into Ted's hug, the first real display of affection she had ever gotten in her entire life. He was gentle, he knew she had more bruises. When he tried to tell her that her parents would support her, her tears dried up and she began to laugh bitterly. "Ted, my aunt, Aquila, was my favorite. She always brought Bella, Cissa, and me candy. She played with us. Mother always disapproved of the way she wanted us to like her, the way she made us laugh. When I was six, one night I woke up to Mother screaming. Aquila had run off to marry a Muggle. She was blasted off the family tree. The next day, when I said I missed her, Mother used the Cruciatus on me. I was six and had just lost my favourite aunt." She shrugged. "I am sure Father hits Mother every now and again. I can't count the times I have seen husbands hit their wives when they think they are in private and there isn't a child hidden behind a tapestry." Tears welled up in her eyes again. "I just thought I would never be that woman, the one who was abused instead of reprimanded." She shrugged. "I grew up knowing a hit every now and again was normal, an Unforgivable was a reprimand. They wouldn't say a word against Evan. Better me than some other girl who can't handle it."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
[SORRY GOT DISTRACTED]
Ted gave her a sad look, not pitying perse just sad because of what she had been through and sad because she didn't have his happy childhood. What separated it from pity was that he knew any other childhood and she wouldn't be this person in front of him, not that he wanted her broken but wanted her the way she was. He gently moved her back into the hug, not saying anything but just holding her, knowing it would be a completely different type of comfort than she knew from anything else and he hoped it would help.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi tentatively wrapped her arms around Ted. "Is this how you give a hug?" She voice was barely even a whisper. She wasn't sure how to give hugs. Occasionally she would wrap an arm around Cissa, but she never really hugged. She rested her head on Ted's chest, speaking to it rather than his face. "What are you going to do, now that you know?" She began to shake with fear. "You can't tell anyone, you know that right? It'll only get worse." She suddenly at a vision of him confronting Evan. "Promise me you won't even think of talking to Evan. Promise!"

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted rested his head on hers and kept his arms around her, "Yes, this is how you give a hug." Her whispered question had pulled on his heartstrings the way even her bruises couldn't. He had hugged people for as long as he could remember and finding someone like her, so hurt and uncared for who didn't know what a hug was, touched him in a way he couldn't even explain. Gently he rubbed his hand over her back as he felt her shake, "I won't talk to him, I promise." He couldn't promise to to tell anyone though because his next plan after this was to head straight to the headmaster to report this and see if anything could be done about this.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi twitched a little when he began to rub her back, but she soon relaxed into the feel of his hand on her. She heard his omission. He wasn't a Slytherin... But then again she hadn't been the best liar recently. "You didn't say you wouldn't tell any one." Andi sighed. "Ted, if you tell someone, they'll break Evan and I up. And I have already messed up one relationship. If I screw up this one by accidentally letting it out he hurts me, my family will still blame me. Bella's reaction to the loss of the alliance is scary enough. I don't even want to think about what my parents would do to me." Andi began to cry again. "And I won't be able to marry. I... I had to sleep with Evan. And now if we break up, no pureblood will marry me. I am worthless!"

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted doesn't mind omitting things but he hates lying more than anything else and would never ever intentionally lie to someone. He kept his arms around her, but when she said she had to sleep with him his arms tightened for a second before loosening up again so as to not cause her pain. Judging by the bruises on her arms, and given how gingerly she had sat down the day before he didn't think they were limited to his arms, he knew it wasn't so much a matter of her sleeping with him as him forcing himself on her. Everything she was telling him made him want to sweep her away and protect her forever but he knew that wasn't currently an option. "Andi, this can't keep going on." Before she could speak again he pulled back, one arm still around her waist, and put a finger over her lips, "Screw the match, you'll be dead before your wedding day. He's killing you, whether you want to acknowledge that or not."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
"Why can't I keep it up? I just need to be stronger." She shook her head, the motion knocking his finger from her lips. "It's karma, that's all. I was horrible to this girl, Millicent Bulstrode. She was anorexic and in love with my previous boyfriend, Marcus Flint. She kept kissing him and seducing him. So I tortured her. I am getting my payback. It's all I deserve." She bowed her head. "I'll just be stronger, Ted. If I can be stronger, I'll be alive for my wedding. As long as I am strong, I'll stay alive. And once I give him an heir, he'll leave me alone. Maybe the fact he wants to sleep with other women is a blessing." She smiled up at Ted. "I can't thank you enough for you trying to help, truly. But if this stops, my family will be furious. If I lose the alliance... they might disown me for not being good enough. And what'll I be without my family? Without Bella or Cissa? They can be horrid at times, and we never say how much we love each other because that is for Mud--- Muggleborns, but we love each other. And I couldn't bear to lose them."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted shook his head in return, one arm still around her. "People might say karma's a bitch but this isn't karma. This is your boyfriend being an abusive asshole and you might think that having a baby would fix that but I don't see any reason why it would." He pulled her into another hug, still feeling like she wasn't understanding what he was trying to explain to her but deciding it was reasonably useless right now to keep pushing the point of it all. If she loved her sisters and parents then it stood to reason they would hold some measure of love for her too and would want to help her get away from something this awful. Her father hitting her mother occasionally was different from the almost complete bruising of her body and was wildly different from rape.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
"Abuse is a bad word. It isn't really abuse. I deserve sone of it. I should know by now to keep my mouth shut and not be stupid. Unfortunately stupid comes easily to me..." Andi sighed. She knew she was being ridiculous even as the words left her lips. But she couldn't admit the truth, couldn't come to terms with the fact the perfect relational she was in was the worst possible relationship. And she certainly couldn't admit that Ted was a better person than bluer boyfriend, finacee, whatever Evan was. "I just need strength and patience. Why won't a kid solve any of this? Until experience proves me wrong, I am right."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted stared at her and his arm rubbed gently up and down her arm, "Andi, you know you're wrong don't you? You don't deserve any of it, no one deserves to be hit let alone hard enough to leave bruises." He took her over to an armchair in the back of the area and sat her down, kneeling in front of her. "And would you really want a child with him? If a man can hit a woman like this then who's to say that he wouldn't treat a child the same." Ted wasn't sure if Evan would actually do something like that but if this was what it took to get Andi free from him then he would hypothetically endanger her children.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi flinched away from Ted's touch, refusing to meet his eyes. "If I don't deserve it, why is it happening? I got myself into this situation, didn't I?" Still, she let him lead her over to the chairs, sitting down carefully to avoid hitting a bruise. She felt herself tear up at the idea of Evan abusing their hypothetical children. She couldn't bear that. "But Father sometimes hits Mother, and he only hurts us when we deserve it." The argument sounded weak to her own ears. How could she live with herself if she gave birth to a child only to have it grow up abused. She ignored the fact she was neglected, practically abused, during her own childhood. "I couldn't... I will not brig children into this world to have them abused. If you say something, I won't deny it. But I don't think I could bring myself to confirm it. There are some rebellions I can't make."

Ted patted her hands gently and stood up, "You know I have to tell someone." He brushed a hand over her hair, "Look I have to go now but I'll see you around Andi. Enjoy the shakespeare" and he headed off to find a teacher, determined that this would stop right now before she got any more hurt by that monster.

Andi prowled between the shelves, looking for the section on Shakespeare. She had finished the play Ted had given her and loved it. Where was it kept? She wanted more!

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted was wandering through the stacks when he saw a familiar head of dark hair near the Shakespeares. He walked up behind her, "Andi? Hey, I didn't expect to see you back here so soon. Did you finish Hamlet already?" He stepped past her and two shelves over to the Shakespeare section.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi spun around quickly, hands flying up to her face. When she saw it was just Ted, she relaxed. "Oh, yeah. I have been keeping to myself recently. Reading is nice, you know?" She gave Ted a small smile. She looked where he was standing, right by the collection of Shakespeare. "I was looking for those!" She laughed and sunk down to her knees, graceful as a dancer. The thoughtlessness of it was ruined by her frown as her knees touched the ground. "Ouch! Forgot about that one..."
