Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted looked up and saw the object of his most recent revelations walking past, he tentatively raised his hand in greeting, "Hi Andromeda." He knew that he shouldn't talk to her or even want to, there wasn't any chance of anything between them, but something inside him made him try.

[RECENT REVELATION WHAT? LINK LINK LINK.]
Andi thought muttering a curse would be too rude. Besides, he could have forgotten about her shameful loss of control. She glanced around furtively, checking no one would catch her acknowledge a Mudblood, before she returned his greeting. "Hello Ted." She knew she should walk on by, not stop to chat, but the memory of his kindness made it impossible. To talk to someone who treated her like a real person would be so nice. She walked over and gingerly sat down down, trying to avoid pressing on any of the bruises on her body. She managed to miss all of them, until she sat down and shifted slightly. She did her best to hide the burst of pain. "How is everything going?"

Ted smiled at her as she sit down and gladly closed up his charms book, already sick of the assignment and only really three lines into it. Poor Ted. He noticed the flash of something in her eyes but it was gone before he could really register what it was, "I'm fine thanks, busy with work but aren't we all? How're you doing?" He figured she wouldn't appreciate him referencing her past breakdown and so, rather tactfully, he didn't bring it up.

[TED IS THE CUTEST EVERRRRRRRR.]
"Schoolwork is getting crazy! I have started studying NEWTs already... what a pain. But I am going to get a set of perfect Os. I refuse to not do that well. So it is worth it. My notes for all my classes are already out of control... thank goodness for magic so I can organize everything!" Andi carefully avoided the question about herself. She wasn't int he mood to invent elaborate lies about how amazing everything was. "How are your classes?"
[Do you remember what class we decided they had together?]

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
[Transfig, Charms and Arithmancy are what they have in common]
Ted nodded, "I know it's insane already. I hadn't really realized up until I started to organize just how much we'd learnt over the last seven years." He noticed her ignoring the question about herself and let it slide, it wasn't his place to bother her about her relationship. "And it doesn't really help your reviewing when you have new work to do." He held up the book in his lap, "Have you done the charms assignment yet?"

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi leaned forward, "I know! I have to learn today's lesson and review lessons from three years ago? Ridiculous. Luckily, I am smart enough to manage that." But not smart enough to pick a nice boyfriend. Oh, he's a perfect match for the family, but a horrible boyfriend. Andi shook her head to clear it of the bitter thoughts. She began to circle a bruise, a nervous habit she developed. "I am about three quarters of the way done with that assignment. I don't have it with me though... I came looking for a nice book to read on my own. I can't run and grab it either..." Andi looked apologetically at Ted.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted shrugged at her, "That's fine. It's not that hard, just irritatingly slow to research and write." He saw her finger circling on her arm and couldn't help but wonder what exactly she was doing. He watched for as second before looking back at her face, "So what sort of book did you come in here looking for then?"

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi saw him glance at her finger, and immediately stopped. "Oh... just a book to make me forget everything. You know the kind where you start them and then five minutes later you are done? Only the five minutes end up being five hours and you haven't eaten or gone to the bathroom?" Andi shrugged. "That kind. I was going to browse the fiction section and see what I could find." Unconsciously, she began to trace another bruise.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted popped his charms book off to the side, "So what kinds of fiction do you like? Action? History? Romance? Plays?" He loved fiction, he'd spent most of his time during every winter buried in that section pretending that he didn't have too long before the ground thawed and he could get outside again.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi stared blankly at him. What did she like? She got to chose? Everything he did was a reminder he wasn't Evan. Andi wasn't sure if she could remember what it was like to chose. She knew she would have looked at book for a few minutes before refusing all of them. She would have spent her night rereading her textbooks, again. She didn't actually want a book, she had just wanted an excuse to get out of Slytherin. "I..." She shook her head. "I... have no idea..."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted grinned and stood up, "Well that makes it so much more fun!" He grinned at her, "Come along, let's find you something exciting!" If she had been Lily or Molly he would have grabbed her hand or arm and lead her over but he didn't think that would go over too well so he started walking, glancing back at her to make sure she was following. "So have you ever heard of Shakespeare?"

Andi shook her head. "I've never heard of him. What did you say his name was? Shakingspears? Sounds violent..." Andi shivered slightly. "I don't think I'd like it if it was violent. Too much like..." She cut herself off quickly. She couldn't say violence was part of her life. Just because Ted listened well and was sweet didn't mean she could drop her guard. "Bella would like that too much."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted shook his head, noticing the slip and filing it away with other odd things about her. "No, not shakingspears. Shakespeare. He's an old english poet and playwright. Some call him 'The Bard' and he's probably the most famous author out there." He walked over to the shelf and started flicking through the books before finding the one he wanted, "Here, this is my favourite comedy, Twelfth Night."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
"The Bard? That sounds nice. Why haven't I heard of him? Mother is very careful that we all know our literature..." She walked over, and took the book from him. "It has a lovely cover. What's the play about?" She handed him back the book and walked over to some chairs nearby. "Let's sit here?" She didn't mention she liked these chairs because she would hear anybody coming before she saw them, which meant no one would catch them talking.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted smiled and followed her over, sitting down before he explained, "Well the play opens with Duke Orsino bemoaning that the woman he loves, the Countess Olivia, doesn't love him in return, so full is she of mourning for her lost brother. The next scene is one of the most crucial ones of the play, a ship has been wrecked and on that ship were two twins: Viola and Sebastian. Both think the other is dead and have been stranded on the coast of the dukedom of Illyria. The play continues with Viola disguising herself as a man to find a place at court because as a woman she would be left to the mercies of the streets. It's full of confusion and laughter." He picked up the book and flipped through it, quickly finding the page he wanted and handing it over to her, "There are characters like these, Maria and Toby, who bring the humor and silliness to the play, uplifting it from Orsino's pining love and Olivia and Viola's mourning."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
"Orsino? What kind of name is that?" Andi asked, mind stuck on that one point. As if someone whose full name was Andromeda Polaris Black could ask that question. "Also, how did they not guess Viola was a girl? I mean, even if she was small breasted to begin with, and then bound them down, she would still have a waist and hips. Plus, she would have a high voice." Andi rolled her eyes. "This doesn't make sense." She didn't say that she would love to do what Viola did, dress as a man and take control of her fate. But she knew Evan would find her no matter what, and he would punish her for trying to escape.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted shrugged, "He's Italian and I don't know what they name their children. And she dressed as a young man, a page and with the fashions of the times... wait why am I trying to rationalize this? Basically it's Shakespeare and whatever he says gets put on stage because it's all brilliant. He also wrote poetry in the form of sonnets. And he wrote several epic poems too, he was rather prolific."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
"He's a foreigner. It all makes sense now." Andi giggled. "Well, if he is so brilliant, you should read me something." She reclined back in her chair. "Maybe, and just maybe, I could even be persuaded to try to read some back to you. But only maybe." She ducked her head for a moment. "I like reading out loud, haven't done it since I was little. I used to read my dolls bedtime stories since no one ever read me them." She clasped her hands on her lap. "Oh, and before I go, I want a book of his sonnets."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted grinned and turned the pages of the little book in her hands, "Of course, I'll make sure I grab a good one." He pointed to the first passage of the play, "It's one of my favourite speeches of all time." Clearing his throat he straightened up and looked her right in the eyes, "If music be the food of love play on, give me excess of it, that surfeiting, the appetite may sicken and so die. Oh that strain again, it had a dying fall. it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound that breathes upon a bank of violets, stealing and giving odor. Enough. No more. 'Tis not so sweet now as it was before. Oh spirit of love, how quick and fresh are thou, that, notwithstanding thy capacity reciveth as the sean nought enteres there, of what validity and pitch soe'er but falls into abatement and low price even in a minute. So full of shapes it fancy that it high alone is high fantastical." He leaned back as he finished and looked at her, a smile playing on his lips.

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi stared blankly at him, completely confused. She took the book from his hands and stared at the speech. "What does it mean? I can't even begin to try to understand. I mean, it is beautiful but so confusing. If music be the food of love play on? Is he saying that we need to keep playing music because it feeds love? I just don't understand."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
[she probably would...]
Ted shook his head, "He's saying that if music feeds his love in replacement of the woman he loves then they must keep playing to satisfy his cravings and desires. He compares the music to all beautiful things and that love is an amorphous thing that can be found in anything and yet nothing because love is nothing unless we make it something." He chuckled and shook his head slightly, "Sorry I'm rambling on again, my mum was an english teacher so she started me early on the bard's plays."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
"No, it is fascinating." Andi smiled at him. "Tell me more. I wish..." She cut herself off again. She didn't need to says he wished Evan would treat her like that. She handed Ted back the book and got up to peruse the rest of Shakespeare's works. "What's this one? Hamlet?" She opened the book to a random page and began to read. "To be or not to be... I've heard that before!" She frowned, "I never knew it was from this!"

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted was surprised when she cut herself off but stood up and followed her to the shelves, leaning over her shoulder, "Oh yeah that's a famous solliliquy. It's Hamlet contemplating suicide," He pointed to the first few lines and quietly read aloud, his lips close to her ear, "'Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them' that's him debating standing up to his mother and his uncle, who killed his father and married his mother, or whether at this point suicide is the easier course for him."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Andi felt Ted's breath tickle her ear. He was too close, but she couldn't make herself move away. "To die, to sleep, no more, and by a sleep to say we end the heartache and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to..." Andi's voice was low and clear. The words flowed off the page, through her heart, and out her mouth. Her eyes fluttered shut. "Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished." She nodded. "To die, to succumb, to leave this world where we suffer and hurt, where we feel pain... Merlin, how I... we... he wants it." She opened her eyes, and sighed. "Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished."

Re: The Library: Behind a Bookshelf
Ted couldn't held but worry about her in that moment, she related so well to that passage and after what he had seen last week he didn't even make an effort to stop himself from doing what he did next. Shifting to stand next to her he put a hand on her shoulder and turned her to face him, slipping the book from her hands as he did and sliding it onto the shelf. His hand stayed on her shoulder, the other loosely gripping her opposite wrist to stop her from running away, "Andromeda, you said I. Do you really feel that way?"
