Jack's grin deepens because Remus is so completely endearing from his shy smile to his attempts at being discreet about checking Jack out. He gives the other boy the barest hint of a wink. "Better and better," he says, opening his book in front of him without even glancing at it. "And yourself?" he asks, resisting the urge to say 'you're just fine, aren't you?' because that might be a little too cheesy even for Jack, who generally makes cheesy look good.

"I'm doing well." he smiled softly. Things were better now that he'd talked to Sirius and they weren't fighting anymore. Though it still sucked that he had to work so hard to hide, squash, ignore, votever, his feelings for his best friend. Luckily the distractions were helping. He couldn't help admitting to himself that the current distraction was the best so far. Nor could he admit that he was finding himself slightly interested in the extremely good looking man that sat right next to him.

"Glad to hear it," Jack says, and leans in a little too close over Remus' shoulder to sneak a peek at his book. "What are you studying today?" he asks, his voice dropping several octaves with his proximity to Remus. Short post is short because Mya needs to get ready for work...

Remus' eyes widen slightly when Jack leans in extremely close. "Er, um, I'm just reviewing some stuff for Transfiguration class." he replies quietly, turning to look at Jack but then instantly regretting it because their faces were extremely close, their noses almost touching, causing him to blush slightly. His mind was starting to get confused - he knew he had strong feelings for Sirius, but he couldn't help feeling interested and attracted to Jack. It was messing with his head, but, then again, he was telling himself that this could be a good thing.

Seeing Remus blush just makes Jack think of all the other things he could do to see him blush, because it really is an adorable sight. Jack doesn't move back, he wants to wait and see what the other boy will do - not push him forwards, but let him make his own choice on when to pull away. "Transfiguration, huh?" he says, still in the same low tone. "Is that your favourite. Mine is Charms," he says, smirking a little because he doesn't strictly mean magical charms.

Remus sort of gets that Jack doesn't just mean magical charms and looks back down at the table, having a hard time not laughing somewhat nervously and somewhat hysterically - his mind was still in over drive, confused between his feelings for Sirius and his budding attraction towards Jack. "I bet you're good at it too, huh? Transfiguration's definitely one of my favorites." he nods, still not moving away. He could feel the heat from the other man's body as he leaned slightly against Remus' arm.

"Yeah, I'd say I'm pretty good at Charms," he says, chuckling a little at the double ~~rainbow~~ meaning. He's about to make a joke about loving the way McGoogles rules her classroom with an iron fist when he changes his mind. Remus already looks like he's been pushed far enough for the time being, although Jack is incredibly impressed by his nerve. He'd half expected him to have pulled away by now. Maybe there were nerves of steel hidden under all that adorable sexiness. "So tell me, Remus, what does a guy like you do for fun?" he asks.

"Hm? Oh," Remus shrugged, "not much. I spend most of my time in here...though I do bake occasionally. A lot of the rest of my time I spend with my close group of friends and try to keep them out of trouble." Though that was pretty nearly impossible half of the time. "How about yourself?"

"Baking, huh? I love a man who's good in the kitchen," Jack comments lightly, eyes sparkling with amusement. "And how does that work out - trying to keep your friends out of trouble? Me, I'm a people person - I tend to just hang out and talk to people, when I'm not studying of course. There's so much knowledge here," he says, his eyes turning away from Remus for the first time to sweep reverently over the library and all the books within. "Knowledge is important - knowledge is power," he says, his eyes returning to Remus because Jack has to admit that the view is most definitely better.

"It generally doesn't work out very well..." he admits. Once Jack's gaze is away from him and towards the other parts of the library, Remus can't help looking at him again, checking the other man out. His gaze turns back towards the table, quickly, when he sees Jack turning to look at him again. He smiled brightly though and nodded at Jack's comments towards the library. "This library is brilliant, sometimes I just want to stay in here for days and try to go through everything...but I know that would take years and I'd still probably not see everything." he chuckles lightly. "My friend jokes that I practically live in here half the school year." A sad look passed over his eyes when he thought about Sirius for a moment, but then he pushed it out of his thoughts and smiled again, "Sorry, I'm a little crazy when it comes to books. I love them."

Jack grins at catching Remus checking him out, but he doesn't say anything this time. "We all get a little crazy over something, why not books? They're useful at least. I've always wanted to try getting through everything in here too, but it would take me twice as long, because I'd need to stop and go find someone to talk to before I went nuts," Jack shrugs. He really is a social creature. And he doesn't miss the sad look crossing over the other man's face when he mentions his friends. On instinct, Jack brushes the hair away from Remus' sad, soulful eyes, allowing the contact to last only a second before it's over. "Hey now, what's that look for? Don't you know people as pretty as you aren't allowed to be sad?"

Remus is definitely not a social creature..ah well. He shivers only slightly from the brief contact as Jack brushes the hair away from his eyes. "Sorry, I'm just kind of in a fight right now with one of my very close friends...and it's pretty recent so I'm still kind of upset about it. I'm sure once we talk again we'll be able to figure things out." he shrugged, hoping he was right. Though the fact that he had feelings for Sirius was going to get in the way just a bit...Only if you let them though, his thoughts told him, just ignore them and maybe just eventually they'll go away.

"That's no good," Jack says. "Well, if you want to talk... or of course if you just want a distraction, I'm available," he says with a wink, and turns to pretend to pay attention to the book in front of him, leaving it to Remus to decide if he's ready to take the bait there yet. It's a good thing Jack is a patient man, and knows that the best things are worth waiting for.

Remus is stuck in awkward, quaffley mode again. Distraction, huh? Jack was definitely a good distraction, that's for sure. Something was pushing him to do something...but he wasn't going to just start something with Jack when he knew he had feelings for Sirius - feelings he was trying to squash though. "I told my best friend that I'm gay...but I didn't tell him that I have feelings for him." he was looking down at the tabletop in front of him, unsure of why he was saying all this but figuring that maybe it would help explain his situation, "They'd just sort of get in the way, you know? Make things really awkward because he's really straight...so I'm trying to ignore them and hope they go away, but it's sort of hard...except now I'm all confused because those feelings are still there but I...I'm finding myself quite attracted to you." his voice had gotten really quiet and he was blushing a dark red.

And now Amethyst cuddles her Inner!Remus because he is just so freaking adorable and awkward sometimes.

Mya is trying to figure out how to climb through the internet and out of Amethyst's laptop into her brain to huggle Remus right now.
Jack blinks, but takes it all in his stride. It takes quite a lot to throw him off, after all. "Well I'm a very attractive guy, so don't beat yourself up about that. Not like it doesn't make my day to find out a guy like you is attracted to me anyway," he says smoothly, with a quick, roguish grin. He resists the urge to slide an arm about Remus because he wants to comfort the guy, but he thinks maybe give their current conversation it would be taken in a different spirit than it was intended. Ok, mostly intended. Jack's only human, and an omnisexual guy like him has a hell of an appetite after all. "Look, I can't tell you what to do about your super striaght friend, or your feelings there. Sucks to be him, though - does he know what he's missing out on? I suppose all I can do is hope to turn his loss into my gain," he says, hoping to lighten the mood just a little, or at least make Remus feel wanted.

"I'm just...just hoping that if I ignore them long enough they'll go away." he nods, looking up at Jack with an adorable, sad expression on his face. Awweh, someone needs some cuddling. He's definitely blushing though from Jack's last comment, though it makes him feel slightly hopeful because right now he really can't deny that he's interested in the other man. Remus just isn't exactly the bravest to actually do anything about that.

Well, how can Jack resist a face like that? There's nobody around, so who cares anyway, he slips an arm about Remus' shoulders and gives him a one-armed hug. He wants to let his hands wander, but he behaves. "Why don't I help you take your mind off them, then? We could do something together sometime - even if you just want someone to study with, or grab a butterbeer with," he suggests, finaly realising that it's not as easy for Remus to act on things as it seems to be for Jack.

Hehe. Inner!Remus says he can let his hands wander all he wants...oops, there he goes, back into his room again to hide because he feels all awkward. How cute. Remus blushes lightly when Jack puts his arm around him, but can't help leaning against the other guy slightly, "I'd love to hang out with you again..." he admits softly, still looking up at Jack with the adorable look upon his face.

Jack smiles and it's somewhere between his usual wolfish grin, and something softer and more sincere. It feels good, having Remus lean slightly into him and Jack's hand squeezes his shoulder lightly. "Excellent. Let's see if we can't bring that smile out again," he says, not stopping to consider how strange it was that after knowing him so little, Jack wants not only to see more of him, but he wants Remus to be happy. It's just the way it is, Jack thinks - there are some people who come into your life for a dirty weekend, and some who stay for a little longer. He'd like for Remus to fall into the second category.

Remus would like Remus to fall into the second category too, thanks very much. Hehe. He smiles, looking genuinely happy that he'll get to see Jack again and spend more time with him. I mean, who could resist that freaking adorable, happy puppy look? "Let's do something other than studying though," he chuckles softly, "I don't want to bore you by not talking, plus it's more fun to do something interesting..." he doesn't really have any ideas himself...but Amethyst does which she'll PM Mya about...

Jack just laughs, finally dropping his arm from around Remus with a little reluctance. "But sometimes not talking is fun," he jokes, but continues because he doesn't want Remus to think that's all he thinks about. Just... mostly what he thinks about. "Trust me - anything with you will be interesting enough to me, but if you've got something in mind, I'll be happy to try it. I just want to spend some time with you, get to know you a little better," Jack says, and for all his flirtatiousness, he's serious about that.

"Alright." Remus smiles, absentmindedly fiddling with the cover of his book. "I'll think of something...though if you come up with an idea then that's good too." Anything really, he just wanted to spend more time with Jack.

Jack tries not to laugh, because oh, he's got plenty of ideas for things they could do together. "Sounds like a plan. But for now, I'll leave you to your reading. I have a feeling I'll be distracting you plenty in the future," Jack says with another little wink. "See you soon, Remus," he promises, and slides out of his seat, pausing just before he's out of sight to grin back at Remus.

"See you, Jack." Remus can't help but watch Jack as he leaves, and returns Jack's grin before the other man is out of sight. Well, that had definitely gone well. He was too distracted to go back to reading so he decided to head back to the dorm and get some rest.
