Lily casually reaches over and takes Remus' hand, squeezing it lightly. "What's so ridiculous about it?" she asks, not wanting to push but wanting to be there for Remus if he wants to open up.

[oh boy. haha.]
Remus smiled lightly when Lily took his hand, squeezing it lightly. Lily was definitely a great friend. "Er..." he realized that if he explained this to her then he'd have to tell her about his feelings for Sirius. How awkward. Well...maybe not. He didn't exactly have to say who the other person was. "There's someone I really like. Like..really really like. And I guess...it was sort of getting in the way of my relationship with Jack, though I was really trying to not let it." It was so uncomfortable to talk about, but this was Lily. He always felt more comfortable talking to her. "I mean, this other guy is straight. Like...really straight. And he knows about my feelings for him - er, not how intense they are, just that they exist - but he's not interested. So we're never going to get together...and I was going to get to the point where I could just ignore it, but now it doesn't even matter because Jack and I aren't together anymore. I think he might think that Si- the other guy and I will end up together, but we're not going to so...it's ridiculous. Doesn't that seem ridiculous to you? Or I might just be crazy." he quaffled when he realized he'd been rambling. "Sorry...I don't usually talk out my thoughts so much."

Lily's eyes widen a fraction, because she is sharp and does not miss the 'Si' that she thinks just may have become 'Sirius' if Remus had not censored himself, but she does nothing to call attention to it. She smiles encouragingly. "Don't apologise, Remus. It's nice to hear you share your thoughts," she tells him. Trying to get Remus' true feelings is sometimes like trying to get blood from a stone because Moony is rocks, so Lily listens carefully and takes everything in. "It sounds like a horrible situation to be in. I don't know what to say, honestly. Maybe ignoring things wasn't working out as well as you'd hoped it was? Funny thing about feelings is that no matter how hard you try to keep them locked up, they tend to find some way to seep into everything you do in the end."

Locked up, huh? Is that what's going on between you and James? *blink* "Hm, I guess you're right." Remus sighs. Well, that just sucks. And he couldn't have Sirius and now he didn't have Jack either. He certainly didn't come out the winner in this situation. He sat in silence, thinking and being a rock for a bit before talking again. "Well, it's been a while and I suppose I'm not as upset about it anymore. So...I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens." he shrugs. "How are you and Gideon doing?" Remus hadn't really gotten to know Lily's boyfriend, having only met him at the Christmas dinner, but he seemed like an alright fellow.

[Inner!Lily growled at your little crossed out bit, love <3]
Lily just waits for Remus to finish hisrock moment moment of thoughtfulness, staying silent until he speaks again. "I suppose you will. For what it's worth, I believe that things always turn out for the best in the end. For good people, anyway, so I think you'll be alright," she says with a little smile. "Gideon and I are doing great. He's a really nice guy, I really like him," she says happily, smiling to herself as she thinks of how much she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and trying not to blush at the memory of being caught out by Potter leaving his dorm.

[I really couldn't help myself. *dead*]
Remus smiles lightly, nodding and hoping that what Lily was saying was true. It was always nice when things turned out for the best. Even though Lily tries to hide it, he can see a hint of red to her cheeks and smiles, figuring things are going pretty well for her andher tall manly man Gideon. That makes him happy cause he likes knowing one of his best friends is happy. "I'm happy for you, Lily." He would totally flail...but sadly 2.0 Remus doesn't really flail. So Inner!Kras will flail for him. "And has James been bugging you a lot?" He can't help but wondering, especially since he hasn't really talked to James in ages.

Sad days. I miss flailing Remus <3
Lily's smile dims as Remus mentions James. "He won't leave me alone," she sighs, fighting the urge to curl up into the fetal position and hug the rock in despair as she remembers how James had basically admitted he would never give up. He's like the bloody Terminator. "I mean, I jumped down a hole in the side of a violent tree essentially to get away from him, and he followed me! By the way, did you know that there's a secret tunnel in the Whomping Willow that leads to the Shrieking Shack? That was a bit of an eye-opener. Gideon and I had been to the Shack before, but we just got in through a window," she says, then stops, blushing, as she realises what she's just done; she's listed her most serious crimes and misdemeanours (not to mention sneaking off school grounds and breaking school rules!) to a fellow prefect.

Flailing Remus'll make a comeback in 3.0. :3 Just cause I miss him too. Haha.
"Well...he is pretty stubborn." Remus sighs, knowing James probably never would give up. He paled slightly when Lily started going on about the tunnel and the Shrieking Shack. Not wanting to let on that anything was wrong though, he just feigned surprise, letting out a dramatic gasp. "Ms. Evans, are you telling me you went off of school grounds and broke a few rules? Tisk, tisk." He grinned, wagging a finger at her. Everything would be alright. Besides, it's not like she would have figured anything out, right? It probably just looked like a few animals had broken in....well, a few big, violent animals, but animals nonetheless, and not big scary werewolves. "Well, I'd have never considered there being a tunnel there," part truth anyway, why would anyone just consider/assume there'd be a tunnel near that violent tree? so it's not like she could really tell he was lying, "but that is pretty interesting."

YAY! FLAILING REMIONE! THE WORLD WILL MAKE SENSE AGAIN! <3
Lily blushes a little more, but smiles cheekily. "I'm fairly certain that if I explained to Professor McGonagall that I was being stalked by Potter, she'll agree that I had no alternative but to run directly at the Whomping Willow and hope for the best," she mutters. Mercifully for Remus, she doesn't notice that he's lying, and very nervous right now, because she's quite eager to share what she's learned of the Shack. "It's really quite strange in there, though. It looks locked up tight, but inside it's like huge wild animals have ripped the place to shreds. When Gideon and I were there, I just assumed that the place had been locked up after the damage was already done and nobody bothered to fix it, but then when I ended up back there, it was rather obvious that there had been more damage since then, but no signs of forced entry. I know there's something going on there, I just can't put my finger on it," she muses, almost talking more to herself than to Remus by this point.

Remus snorts, amused because Lily did kind of have a point. If someone was stalking him, he'd rather take the Whomping Willow on any day instead. "Hm...er, maybe there's just some other way some animals are getting in?" Trying to sound helpful without making it seem like he was just trying to deter her line of thinking. He shifts his book in his lap, closing it since they were talking and he wasn't going to be reading anything in it anytime soon.

"Hmm. Maybe someone's letting them in or something. Well, if anyone's fool enough to go playing with something straight out of the Forbidden Forest, more fool them is all I'll say," she shrugs. She glances down at the book on his lap, naturally curious as to what he's reading. "Did you enjoy the book I gave you for Christmas? If you've had time to crack it, I mean." She hopes he liked the Lord of the Rings as much as she did.

Remus is quite happy with the change in conversation topic. He nods enthusiastically at her question, smiling brightly. "Oh yes. I really did enjoy it, thank you. I was telling Dean about it and even he said he might be interested. Which is amusing cause that brother of mine really doesn't read many books besides what he needs to for class." And even then he probably doesn't do a lot of the reading anyway.

Lily chuckles. "Well, if it helps at all, tell Dean he can just watch the films instead next time he's near a dvd player and has about nine hours to spare. I met Dean once, did I tell you? I think I might have," she says, shrugging because she can't really remember. "He was, erm, practicing his moves in the Entrance Hall. He's quite the showman," she smirks.

"Nine hours, huh? Yeah, I could see the movies being that long." Remus wondered if Dean could even sit still that long enough. Well...for a movie maybe, definitely not for a book. "Oh, when I talked to him the other day he told me about that. You two meeting, I mean." He laughs, shaking his head. "Dean's a little strange, but he's an amazing brother. I wish I could look out for him more, like he does for me. Especially when we were kids." He smiles fondly, remembering some of the fun times he had had with his brother when they were younger.

Re: Beach By the Hogwarts Lake
"He was very friendly," Lily recalls, and when she remembers that she and Petunia used to be close and look out for each other when they were kids, she smiles for once, instead of feeling sad about what has been lost. "You two seem very close; it's really nice to see. You don't seem to waste time focusing on petty differences between the two of you," she says, feeling that familiar twinge of envy that always accompanies Lily deep down, when she sees how well other siblings can get along. Having different fathers doesn't lessen Remus and Dean's claim to each other the way Lily's magical blood seems to prevent Petunia from accepting her.

Re: Beach By the Hogwarts Lake
"Oh..well," Remus shrugs, smiling lightly, "we're pretty different but our differences are what sort of made us all the more closer." Especially considering how, when Dean had realized just how different his brother was, he had accepted the fact and had quickly jumped to helping him out after those dreadful nights every month. It meant a lot to Remus, especially since he had always been so lonely the mornings after when he was younger. Sure, he had had his parents, but most of the time they just thought he needed lots of rest and would just come in to check on him every once in a while, letting him sleep and rest by himself. Of course he had his books to read, but on more than one occasion all he wanted after those hard nights was someone to talk to, someone to spend time with even if he couldn't do much besides sit up and maybe play a card or chess game or two until he fell asleep again. It was a way for him to feel even semi normal. That first afternoon, after a particularly rough night, when Dean came into his room with some of his art stuff in hand and had hopped up on the bottom of Remus' bed to draw while they talked, well, that was probably one of the first times he had actually thought that maybe things were going to be okay. Even if Dean was the only real friend he would have until Sirius, James, and Peter came along, he was still the bestest friend, and brother, that Remus could ask for. After that first afternoon, it became a thing for them after every full moon. And when it grew colder outside they would huddle under warm blankets and drink cocoa together, just talking. If Remus grew sleepy or started to nod off, Dean would move their mugs and either hop off the bed to move to a chair nearby just in case, or he would just let his brother fall asleep against his shoulder. Amethyst better stop rambling because this post is going to get long otherwise...or Mya will die from over adorable brotherly-ness. ANYWAY... So, yeah, Remus and Dean are close. Yep yep. "How are things going with your family?" Remus asks, hoping Lily can tell from his tone of voice that she really doesn't have to answer if she doesn't want to. He was just curious.

Mya aaaawed out loud. Oops?
Lily watches the little smile on Remus' face with interest; it's clear that there's something deep and profound about his relationship with his brother, and she can tell that he's thinking back to moments of great comfort or fun between them. She shrugs lightly in response to his question. "Alright. My sister is still pretending I don't exist, and my Mum sent the world's biggest guilt trip letter when I didn't go home for Christmas, but that's all nothing unexpected. My Dad sent me a photo from Christmas dinner. My sister is dating what appears to be a walrus with the world's tackiest mustache. I like to think I'm not vain, really, but it makes me incredibly grateful that Gideon is Gideon, you know?" she confesses sheepishly.

Remus blinks at Lily's comment about her sister's boyfriend. Then he laughs. "A walrus with the world's tackiest mustache? You know what that reminds me of?" He really can't remember the last time he's laughed this hard, which isn't something he does a lot anyway. Well, he laughs, but it's never this much. "I was reading an older copy of 'Alice in Wonderland' - what? it's a great story - and there was a picture of the Walrus and the Carpenter...and that's what I'm picturing right now." He shakes his head, grinning. Amethyst is really amused cause she's picturing the Walrus character from the Disney animated Alice movie. And it kind of does remind her of Vernon...excuse her while she goes off to die of laughter...

OHMYGOD I AM DEAD.
TEARS OF SILENT LAUGHTER I TELL YOU.
Lily leans back a little in surprise as Remus begins to laugh, hard. It's a nice sound, to hear her friend laugh, she just honestly doesn't think she's ever seen him do so with such abandon. Lily blinks once. Twice. Threefourfivesixseveneight times. Then she laughs, too. She laughs so hard that she flops to her side on the ground, rolling about a little bit. Eventually, she laughs herself out, wiping tears of mirth from her face and sucking in lungfuls of air while she fights for control. She sits up again, eyes dancing merrily and cheeks flushed with amusement as she looks over at Remus. "I can't wait to tell my father that one. See, he's rather skinny, and likes to tinker and build little things in his garage, so I'm sure he'll have composed his own epic tale of the Walrus and the Carpenter: The Christmas Dinner Edition in no time," she says, still chuckling.

NIGHT MADE. XD
Remus laughs at Lily's comment about her father composing his own epic tale of the Walrus and the Carpenter. "If he does you'll have to share it with me." He takes a few deep breaths, getting himself under control. It had definitely felt good to laugh like that - something he wasn't used to - but it still made him feel slightly self conscious, even if it was Lily he was with. He'd still feel self conscious about it even if it was Sirius he was with. Ah well. It was nice while it lasted, not to mention he got to hear Lily laugh and he liked hearing her laugh. She always sounded pretty. "I don't think I'll be able to look at that part of the story ever the same way again..especially if I ever get to see this boyfriend of your sister's." Amethyst knows she won't be able to. Haha.

"Of course," Lily promises, nodding at once. "I'll be sure to send you a copy. Hmm, maybe I could even talk him into doing a dramatic reading and recording it." She falls silent, the last of her moment of wild amusement abating. "Maybe you will get to see him somehow. I get the feeling that no matter how hard Petunia tries, I won't be able to avoid him. From what Dad's said, it's pretty serious." She frowns to herself, because from what her Dad has said -and for all his joviality and sense of humour, her father is an excellent judge of character- Vernon Dursley isn't a particularly nice man. Lily hopes Petunia is not setting herself up for an unhappy life. She pushes the thoughts away. Petunia wouldn't believe her even if Lily tried to tell her she only wanted the best for her sister.
