Severus smiled at her again, this time with sadness. "You and Remus are about the only ones who do, Lily. It's not just James and Sirius, it's never been just them, and you know that. You know it's been like this since I was little- you were there. What they say is no different from what Tobias has told me my whole life."

Lily looked at her friend sadly. "I know Sev...but I don't have to like that it affects how you see yourself! " She tried to be happy for his happiness, but now she had a new load of confusion in her head. It was hard to sort out what was happy, and might actually stay so.

[May I just say I keep wanting to have Lily run her hands though his hair, but refrain because with all the talk of how greasy his hair is, I would be repulsed. She might be...but she'd hide it. >_>]

Severus stared at her, his smile gone. "How am I not supposed to be affected by it, when it's all I've ever heard, from anyone? Other than him, and you. The rest of the world seems to be unanimous on their decision that I am unworthy of life."

Lily sighed. This is all far too confusing...my issue with James is minor compared to this. "She kept her arms around him in a hug. "You're being silly Sev...you look at any faults you may have FAR too much. Then again, most people do...but you take it to an extreme."

"Any faults I may have? Lily, look at me. I am nothing but flaws. There's not a bit of good in me. I'll never understand why you put up with me, and you know that. There's you, and then there's me. There's you, so beautiful, so pure, so kind, so angelic... and then there's me. Ugly and corrupt and mean and nasty and horrible and selfish... How can you even stand being around me? Aren't you afraid you'll be contaminated by me or something?" He stares into the trees behind her head, blinking back tears.

"Sevvy!" Lily hugged him tighter for a moment. "Stop it, stop it right now. Stop flattering me, i'm not an angel, you aren't horrible, or nasty, or any of those! Of course I'm not worried about being 'contaminated', there's nothing to contaminate me."

Severus sits there in silence, returning her hug, grateful for her embrace. Inside, he was crying a thousand tears, but he wouldn't let her see that. He didn't want her to see this side of him, this tormented, broken side. He wanted her to see the side of him that cared about her, that worshiped her, that loved her and her perfection. Yet all he could do right now was hold her, trying not to think about how strange this must look, such a dazzling goddess, hugging the lowest of vermin. "But you are an angel," he breathed, so softly that she might or might not have heard him.

Lily rolled her eyes, and playfully smacked the back of his head very lightly. "Hush Sev. Lying is bad. I can't be sure if you ever tell the truth if you lie at all. I'm not an angel, I told you. " She slowly pulled away from his hug, so she could meet his eyes. "I'm happy for you Sev...I am...if it doesn't show, i've just got a lot in my head right now.."

Severus gazed into her stunning eyes, trying not to lose himself in their exquisiteness. "I would never lie to you." He said it firmly, his voice emotionless. He wasn't trying to convince her of anything- it was simply a fact. He smiled again a little at her last statement, his depression starting to ease again, just a little. "Thank you, Lily. That means a lot to me."

Lily glanced away for a moment, looking across the lake. I wish I could be happier for him...but Hermione's my friend...and he'd start yelling again if he found out about my talking to James She sighed, slightly shaking her head and turning back to him with a slight smile again. "I wouldn't be happy if you were unhappy Sev. I couldn't be happy in a friend's sorrow."

I wish I could confide in you about James, Sev, but you despise him.. Lily decided to play sort of innocent. "I bet, with good reason, but don't worry. He was civil, Sev. Really, he was! I'm fine Sev." He wished he had been able to help me..he worried..

Severus looked at her, not entirely sure he was hearing everything, but decided if it was important, she'd tell him. Just like Remus would tell him, if there was anything important. They could trust in him. They would confide in him. They wouldn't leave him in the dark. They cared about him. "If you say so." He suddenly felt extremely queasy, and stood up. "I'm not feeling too good. I'm going to.. I'm gonna go, alright? You know how to find me if you need me," he said, hugging her tightly and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before bolting out of the area, heading for the lake.

Lily watched him leave, and suddenly didn't feel like going anywhere. Thinking swiftly, she summoned a small tent she had that she had added some charms to. She caught it, and lay it on the ground, murmuring a charm so it opened up to show a fairly cozy space with a simple bed, and she gratefully lay down on the bed, and fell asleep.

[Someone tell her about Sirius and Oliver so she can be all angry at them, eventually. Bye everyone.]

Lily walked along the grounds, her hands in the pockets of her jeans, and she whistled a tune in her head. She almost wished she brought a jacket, it was slightly chilly, but decided she liked the weather enough to not mind. A sigh escaped her with a smile and she closed her eyes, standing still, and humming the song in her head.

[If anyone's curious, the song is "For Good" from Wicked. Because it's stuck in mine, with just about every other song from the play.]

Severus stumbled along, taking a swig from the bottle and leaning on Pansy, feeling too sick and tired to be his usual happy drunk self. He staggered along, not really noticing where he was going, and promptly walked directly into Lily, knocking her over. "Guhh? Ooh no no no no. Sorrry Lillllllyyyy, Sevvy sorry!" he said, trying to help her up, but he ends up simply falling down face first into the grass.

Pansy tried to help Severus walk, but it wasn't much use. He was too drunk and was still intent on drinking. She wouldn't dare take the bottle from his hands. As he stumbled into Lily and then fell onto the ground himself, she quickly apologized for him and offered Lily a hand to help her back up. "You alright, Evans?"

Lily nearly smelled the liquor before she fell, and promptly picked herself up, brushing off her skirt before looking up. "Watch where you're going, you're obviously drunk...idiot..." Her eyes widened as she saw Severus and Pansy. "..Sev...what...." She turned to Pansy for a moment, confused and trying to calm herself. "Pansy, why is he DRUNK?! I...I must be a horrible friend to have not been there if he needed someone...I didn't think he'd ever drink...EVER...why...?" She knelt on the ground by Sev. "Sev? Are..are you alright?"

Sev doesn't drink...I thought he didn't drink...maybe someone slipped him something? But why...he's so drunk...

[Why does drunk Sev need to talk to Lily? ]

Pansy gave Lily a serious look and mouthed a single word: Remus. She figured Lily had known about that situation, right? Pansy didn't want to say it out loud because Severus would hear and she didn't want to upset him any more than he already was. "Don't blame yourself Evans, you couldn't have known."

Lily saw Pansy mouth Remus's name, and sighed. I should've told him...should've told him that I thought he'd end up going back to Hermione...should've known.... She sat on the grass beside her friend, motioning that Pansy was welcome to if she chose, and sighed, wondering if they should take him to this hospital wing, or do something to sober it up...or just let him enjoy the lack of post-break up pain.

[I'm presuming its now post Snupin, pre-Remione stage? *has no idea whats been going on, Daily Reel or not*]
