Re: Secret Corridor in the Dungeons
"You were raised to be prejudiced against others. You've seen the lengths people go to, when they feel that someone is inferior. It's understandable why you wouldn't ever want to be on the receiving end," Faye sighed and looked up at the ceiling. He had been right, she'd received a great deal of prejudice for her blood status. Throughout the years, it had grown easier to handle, but she was different than Regulus. He had been raised to hate people who were beneath him. If he fell into one of those inferior categories, he could lose more things than if he hid it. She shrugged, "Lying to yourself won't make that part of you go away. I tried to ignore my blood status, but it's visible when I defend those people who are on my end. If you pretend not to be on the receiving end, you end up a bigger fool than being on the receiving end in the first place. It proves that they may be right. You mustn't be ashamed of who you are or who you may become or you let them win." She flashed a smile, hoping to send reassurance, "They don't deserve to be right. If what they hate you for makes you happy, then they don't have your best interest in mind."

Re: Secret Corridor in the Dungeons
Reg returned her smile, even if only half-heartedly, inwardly laughing at the irony that the person who'd brought him the most comfort so far was the girl he'd spent the vast majority of the year pissing off just for fun. "Faye, nobody has ever had my 'best interest' in mind. And whether or not they deserve to be right doesn't matter, because they're the ones with power and control over my life," he said, trying to picture his father's face if he found out he'd been spending hours at a time half naked and fooling around with a Gryffindor boy. "And while I know I can't ignore who I am, the consequences of me not hiding and pretending are far too great for me to bear."

Regulus Black wrote:[Eh. He's a teenager. There's always something to angst about.]
Reg brushed his hair out of his eyes and looked at Teddy, debating for a moment. "Mind if I try one, then?" he asked, deciding he needed something, anything, at this point.

"Don't get offended or anything," Faye stated, leaned back against the wall and looked down at the darkened floor, "But, you have a brother who also is different from what your family wants. What did he do that you can't do? I'm sure there is someone who would be willing to help you and accept you for you are. You don't have to let those people control you. Can't you leave?"

"My brother was disowned, Faye. Leave? Me, leave? Are you insane? My family means too much to me. Sirius left because I- our family- didn't mean anything to him. But I'm not like that, and I wouldn't have anywhere to go, anyway," he said, looking at her. "I don't know anybody that would accept me for who I am, what I am, other than one, possibly two people. I've already lost my best friend," he said sadly, wishing Cormac wouldn't be like this.

"If your family can't accept you for everything you are, they don't deserve to be in your life," Faye glanced down the hallway, making sure no one was coming, "Your brother does care about you, at least, I think he does. It's hard to trust people who support a family that disowned their own son because of their narrow mindedness. Unfortunately, I can agree with Sirius. Those one or two people could easily make the biggest difference. Hell, if you stopped annoying me, maybe I'd volunteer."

[Posting from this account since it's actually working. Sorry about that.]
Regulus smiled a little at her, feeling bad for being such an asshole to her. She really didn't deserve it. "Thanks," he mumbled, staring at the floor, "But I have a feeling you'd probably scoff at me as well if you knew. It seems most people around here despise people like me," he finished, his voice bitter. He couldn't count the nasty remarks he'd heard made about the few openly gay people in the school, mostly about Severus.

[I'll reply to this now, and Scorpius later.]
"Yeah, the mudblood in Slytherin is definitely going to scoff at someone," Faye replies with a hint of sarcasm. Her brow arches and she folded her arms, trying to figure out what he could possibly be hiding, "I've learned not to discriminate against people. Whatever it is, I'm sure I've met someone who's similar. Most people despise you right now because you utilized the signature Black prejudice. Most people here don't like you because they're judgmental. The people who despise you because you have the "Black" prejudices are probably people like me. They'd forgive you if you stopped. The people who are judgmental? That's harder. You'd have to prove their judgments wrong, like Sirius most likely had to do."

[I CAN GET THIS TO WORK, BUT REALLY REALLY SLOWLY! Yessssssss. Honestly, so much has happened from the time we started this, he'd probably be going back here by now hoping to find you or Teddy for another smoke. So, I'm gonna end this, and then probably come right back after you post, haha.]
"As hard as it is for you to believe, most of the people around here, at least in Slytherin, happen to like me. But more importantly, the people who I care about, that matter to me, are the people who would hold their prejudices against me. Even if, as you say, other people might not care, the people I care about would. And I've already hurt some people that mean a lot to me because of all of it. I don't want that to happen again, not if I can help it, even if it means hiding who I am." Regulus stared at her, still wondering how the hell it came to be that the one person who he'd actually been able to talk to, to help him sort out his thoughts, was someone he'd previously shared a mutual loathing for. He decided he'd already been here too long; god knows how long he'd been down here with her. Besides, he was starving, and dinner had already begun in the Great Hall. "As nice as it's been talking to you, I need to get going. But I mean that. It was nice," he said with a small smile. "Thank you. You've helped me, a lot," he said, turning to leave.

Re: Secret Corridor in the Dungeons
Faye listened and she understood, even if she didn't want to. Her hand gripped tightly onto her wrist and she tilted her head, trying to figure him out. It was odd that he had suddenly decided to confide in her. They had both hated and insulted one another since their first day of knowing one another. She brushed a strand of her hair from her face and carefully tucked it behind her ear. She looked up at the ceiling, hearing footsteps above them, "Yeah. I think I'll stay down here a bit longer...." She muttered, her hand squeezing her wrist, "I'm glad to have been of assistance," and, for once, she smiled at Regulus. It felt fantastic being able to help someone since she had never been given that opportunity before. She watched him walk down the hallway and pressed her back against the wall. She waited a few moments after he had gone, before walking down the other direction to the common room.

Re: Secret Corridor in the Dungeons
Regulus stomped down the hall, even more pissed off than he was when he'd walked into the common room and found Dee. He sincerely hoped to find Teddy or Faye, and possibly persuade one of them to give him another cigarette. He made a mental note to ask one of them where to get them himself, so he wasn't mooching off of them, as he had a feeling he'd be wanting more- they really did help.

Re: Secret Corridor in the Dungeons
Faye re-entered the hallway, a pack of cigarettes in her pocket. Her fingers ran along the wall as she walked, her eyes staring up at the ceiling. She enjoyed the peace and quiet the dungeons offered her. She found herself wondering if Teddy would be down here today and returned her gaze to the spot where they had smoked previously. Instead of Teddy being there, it was Regulus. After their talk the day before, Faye wasn't worried about approaching him, "I'm guessing you've become smitten with this place now too, huh?" She smiled, gesturing at the dimly lit dungeons with their cold, damp floors.

Regulus tried to smile, but was too pissed off to do so. "Yeah, I suppose I have. Was rather hoping one of you would show," he said, leaning against the wall and unclenching his fist, which he hadn't realized he was doing in the first place.

"Oh, really?" Her eyes widened in slight surprise, "I'm guessing you need something that you can't get without help from one of us," She watched him curiously before she took the pack of cigarettes from her pocket. She took one out for herself and then another, holding it out for Regulus to take, "Is this what you were wanting?"

Regulus did smile slightly this time. "Yeah, it was. I should really look into getting my own," he said, taking it gratefully. "Where do you get them, anyway?"

"Well, not Hogsmeade, that's for sure," Faye laughed as she held her cigarette up to her lips and lit it with her wand. She took a drag, closing her eyes, before she let her hand hang by her side. She lightly tapped the cigarette, watching small pieces of burnt paper drift to the floor, "I have mine sent to me via owl post. My friends who send it to me, they disguise the packs well. I could always order a couple more packs from them and you could pay me for it. They generally don't accept customers they've never met in person."

"I'd appreciate that. Here," he said, grabbing a handful of galleons from inside his schoolbag. "Dunno how much they are," he said, shrugging. Money was nothing to him- he had plenty at his disposal.

"I'll have to exchange it, but this'll buy you a couple packs. Probably supply you for a month or a few of them, depending on how much you plan on smoking a day," She took the money from him and placed into a pocket in her schoolbag, "Don't get too addicted though. These aren't healthy for you, in case you were wondering."

Regulus rolled his eyes. "Do I look like I give a damn about my own health?" he said sardonically, but with a smile. "Thanks, Faye," he said, closing his eyes and running a hand through his hair, as he seemed to do constantly when he's stressed or anxious.

"I don't know. Smoking may get rid of the problems right now, but, as Teddy and I both are aware of, it causes a bigger one in the future," She shrugged and took another drag of her cigarette, pressing her back against the wall, "It's no problem. I understand."

Re: Secret Corridor in the Dungeons
"I'm not exactly looking for immortality here. Long life isn't in my plans anyway," he said, lighting the cigarette with his wand. He takes a long drag and sighs, debating what to do about Cormac, and whether or not to tell Viktor. He didn't see a need to hide it from him- surely he'd understand. His face shows how troubled he is, lost in thought.
