Faye eyed the pills with curiosity. What had Regulus said about them before? They made him happy. She bit her lower lip and sat cross-legged on the floor, "That's difficult. The best you can do is reassure Viktor that you aren't cheating on him with Gellert. I've had to deal with that before....but if you can prove it to him that you aren't cheating, it'll only help your cause. The pills - that's even more difficult. I know you don't want to tell Viktor, but that's an awfully big secret to keep. I won't tell anyone about it, I told you I wouldn't, but I can't help but worry. One day, whether you like it or not, you'll have to tell Viktor. He deserves to know and I think you know that."

Regulus nodded slowly, and looked at her sadly. "I know. I already tried. To prove I loved him, I mean. I don't think it worked. And I can't tell him, Faye! I'd lose him! I'd lose him forever! I- I can't. He's my everything, I can't lose him."

"Are you sure these pills make you happy?" Faye stared at them, not sure whether or not to trust them, "I wish you could be happy without them. You sure Viktor can't make you as happy as those buggers?"

"Viktor makes me happy. He does. It's not hard to see that. But when he's not around, or when things get bad, really bad... they help. A lot. They feel damn good," he said, opening up the bag and pouring two out into his hand and popping them in his mouth. "I'm... I'm gonna go now. I need to think, alone. Or rather, not think," he said, holding up the rest of the pills. "But- Faye?" He pauses then throws his arms around her and hugs her. "Thanks. For- for being my friend," he said, then pulling away and feeling really awkward.

Faye almost falls backward when he hugs her. She gradually moves her arms around him and returns the hug, giving him a pat on the back, "It's no problem. I rather like being your friend, Reg," she smiled and she tried to avert her gaze from the pills. He said they helped him. Maybe they could help her with...with the stupid thoughts of Mr. Malfoy, Scorp's dad. She bit her lip nervously, "Do you mind - well - um - if they really do help - " she cleared her throat, "Would you let me have one? To see if they'd help me get over...the meeting the parents...and all that stuff..."

Regulus looked at her in surprise, and pulled out the bag of pills again. "I- yeah, I guess so, I don't see why not. They do help," he said, and he handed her a few. "I only needed one the first few times. It takes more now though," he added. "And I like being your friend too. It.. I feel comfortable enough to talk to you, somehow. But I really should go. Goodnight, Faye," he said with a smile, tucking the bag away and leaving, a smile lingering on his face, a combination of his friendship with Faye, and the drugs starting to kick in.

Faye cupped the pills in her hand and stood up, unsure of where to go. She knew she didn't want to be compelled to try any of the pills again and she only had what looked like three. She decided to take them all and hope that she got over Scorp's dad in one night. She smiled at Regulus and nodded, "Night. Thanks, for the - uh - you know," she shifted from her heels to her toes when he walked down the hallway and slipped the pills into her mouth. She leaned against the wall and waited for them to kick in before walking, dazed, back to the circle of couches.

Regulus walks down the corridor, looking around to make sure that he's alone. The only people who ever came down here were Teddy and Faye anyway, and he didn't care if they found out, honestly. He could trust Faye, at least with this- if he couldn't, she'd have spilled the beans by now, he was sure of it. He sank to the ground and leaned against the wall, closing his eyes to forget the world. But as the world disappeared, he saw Viktor's face in his mind’s eye and shivered. He hadn’t spoken to him since the horrible incident in the room of requirement, and had no idea where they stood at all anymore. Unable to bear the vision of Viktor any longer, he opened his eyes and pulled out the baggie of cocaine, along with the syringe and tiny vial of lemon juice. He wasn’t sure how he felt- scared, for one; what if he messed up somehow? But he’d watched Gellert’s dealer carefully- he would be fine, he convinced himself. He listened to the small cracking as the acid met with the rocks, choking back a sob as he thought of his Viktor, his Viktor, who probably hated him. He lit the tip of his wand, staring as the flames heated the spoon, waiting just long enough before preparing the syringe. He pressed the needle to his skin, hesitating, before he brought himself to do it. “It takes exactly eight seconds to get to the brain,” he’d said. One… two… He shuddered and closed his eyes again. Seven… Eight…

Regulus opens his eyes wide, his pupils dilating as the dopamine is released into his system. He's shocked, insanely shocked by the sudden euphoria, this foreign, raging feeling coursing through his body. He feels his heart beating impossibly loud, he can feel his pulse, the flow of his blood; he is alive. His eyes are open, but all he can see is Viktor, Viktor's eyes, Viktor's lips, Viktor's exposed body. He remembers that feeling, that horrible, incongruous feeling as Viktor penetrated him, the sheer pleasure drowned out by his own fear, his own pain. Regulus clutches his head, shaking away the images, the emotions, no, he couldn't and he wouldn't think about him, he would forget. His sadness is almost instantly replaced by anger, at himself, at Gellert, at Viktor. He gives in to the sudden urge to throw himself against the stone wall repeatedly, until he can no longer stand, and he collapses in a heap on the ground, but he does not cry, or even frown. He's grinning to himself as he lays on the ground; he has found his escape from reality, and it's damn good.

Regulus lays on the ground; the cold stone feels frozen against his cheek. His heart is racing, pounding in his chest, his eyes seeming unable to close, even to blink. He's twitchy- his fingernails tap on the ground in some familiar rhythm, his eyes staring straight ahead into the dimly lit corridor. His mouth feels dry, almost painfully dry as he sits up straight, wrapping his arms around his knees, but he isn't here anymore, he's somewhere else, flying away and losing himself to this ludicrous euphoria. Time passes, but it feels like no time at all; time has simply ceased to exist to Regulus. Suddenly, a sickening feeling takes a hold of him. It's grasping at him, yanking at his chest, it's pulling away this beautiful high, and Regulus can do nothing to stop it as he feels it ripped away from him, the joy he'd felt moments ago slipping away and disintegrating into nothingness, only to be replaced by this heart wrenching low. He squeezes his eyes tightly shut, still curled up on himself as he bites his own lip hard enough to draw blood. He licks away the sweet, metallic droplet as he's incarcerated by his desolation. He hears foot steps and panics, quickly returning the syringe and the rest of it into their pouch and shoving it back into his pocket.

Cormac walks along the corridor, his fingers running across the stone wall. The walls were damp, as the dungeons were. He walked foward and noticed Reg on the ground. He didn't seem himself. He looked dead. "Reg.." he said lightly towards him on the floor.

Regulus opens his eyes again and looks up, surprised to see Cormac. "Cormac?" he says, making it sound like a question. He tries to pull himself to his feet but finds he has no motivation to move at all, and remains in his place.

Reg's face looked pale. Paler than usual atleast. Cormac noticed traces of tears running down his face. "How are you?" Cormac said gently. He was concerned.

Regulus glared at him, but softened his expression when he realized Cormac wasn't mocking him, like he'd thought. "I'm fucking fantastic," he muttered, not looking him in the eye. He reaches a hand up and wipes away the remainders of his tears.

Cormac sat down next to Reg. The floor was cold, the wall was cold. Everything about the corridor itself was cold. Cormac took his left hand and put it on Reg's shoulder. Cormac looked at him straight in the face, "What the hell happened to you Reg?"

Regulus choked back his tears and returned his gaze. "Viktor. I'm sure that he's done with me. I've fucked up, fucked up so badly. I doubt if he'll ever want to see me again."

[Cormac McLaggen]

"It's OK." Cormac gave Reg a comforting smile. "You're hard to stay mad at Reg." Cormac gave him a playful punch hoping he was cheering him up, even if only slightly.

Regulus ignored the playful punch and looked at him sullenly. "No. Not this time. He loathes me. I've lied to him and betrayed his trust, and he knows it, even if he doesn't know how. I've done him wrong, and he shouldn't forgive me. I wouldn't forgive me."

"I'm sure it's not that bad." Cormac went serious. "I can't help you if you don't tell me."

Regulus bit his tongue, unsure how much to divulge. "He knows I'm lying to him. Said he didn't believe that I loved him anymore. So I tried to prove it to him," he said, pausing a moment to stare at the ground. "It ended badly. He pushed me away, wouldn't even look at me. So I ran away," he murmured, looking back up into Cormac's eyes.

"It'll be ok Reg. It really will." Cormac finally gets an idea. "How about some firebeer?"
