Viktor smiled, his mind drifting off to the summer. Spending all his time with Regulus unless he was at a game or practice. "Right. Vorking. I've never given much thought to vot I vould do if Quidditch didn't vork out. Vot is it that you plan on doing after school?"

Hermione shrugs, bringing her hands up behind her head as she keeps watching the sky. "Anything that feeds my family, to be honest. I'm looking into some departments of the Ministry of Magic right now. So there's nothing you'd ever like to do besides Quidditch?"

"Hmm, I don't know. An auror? Maybe? Or a curse breaker... I really don't know. Maybe I'd just open up a knitting shop," he said jokingly.

Hermione chuckles a little. "Right. All the cool jobs, yeah? Personally, I'd go with the knitting shop."
She takes a deep breath. "Viktor, can I ask you a question? Oh, you know what - never mind, it's stupid. I shouldn't ask. It's just... why boys? What's so wrong with girls?" She looks away, blushing. "Sorry. Ignore me."

"Oh," he says after sitting there in shock for a moment. That was unexpected. "Erm- there's nothing wrong vith girls. I just...I don't know. Don't really think of them like that anymore. Not since I kissed Regulus."

Hermione looks away, blushing still at her outburst. Good thing her friends are used to her being completely tactless by now. "I don't know what to do, Viktor," she admits in a small voice, and before she knows it, the whole stupid story comes tumbling out. "The thing is, when Remus and I first got together, well before you came to Hogwarts, he cheated on me. With another guy. And he admitted it, and we worked through it... or so I thought. Then everything sort of fell apart, and he left me and ended up with that guy for a while. It was pretty bad - I did some stupid things, got myself into a complete mess.... but then we worked it out again. He'd completely cut off contact with that guy and everything, and we learned to trust each other again. And the rest was history, or so I thought. But he's talking to that guy again now, and I don't know how to deal with it. Because there's always that part of me that wonders if it's always going to be like this... if he's always going to want something that I just can't give him..."
She resolutely stares off into the distance, her face burning.

Viktor looks at Hermione in shock, not expecting this conversation to take a turn like this. He did the first thing that came to his mind and leaned over to hug her tightly. He pulls away slightly, still keeping his arms wrapped around her and looking at her with a sympathetic expression. "Wow, I had no idea. Um. Herm-own-ninny, Remus loves you. I know he does. And he loves Kiora. He made some poor decisions in the past, but he loves his family and he vould never do anything to hurt you or Kiora. There's nothing that this guy can give Remus that you can't. Maybe he just vants to be friends vith him now that they've moved on. I highly doubt that Remus vould ever even think of hurting you again."

Hermione leans gratefully into the hug. "Thanks, Viktor. And I know. I'm being an idiot. I know Remus loves me, and I trust him, and I know he'd never want to hurt me again. But I don't want him to be friends with this guy. That makes me a bitch, doesn't it?"

"You're not being stupid. I understand. If I vos in your position, I'd feel the same vay if Regulus cheated on me...and then started talking to the guy again. Did you tell Remus how you feel about all of this?"

Hermione nods, and Lenore flubs the answer a bit because the scene in the Cub Pen is still ongoing... "Yeah, I did. He says he understands, but I don't think he gets it, really," she says quietly. "The thing about Remus is that he wants everyone to be happy and wants to help everyone, no matter what. And the problem with that is that it usually leads to someone getting hurt. I just don't want it to be me again. And I sure as hell don't want Kiora to be caught up in that mess!"
She shakes her head, managing a small smile despite her watery eyes. "Listen to me, having a hissy fit over something that's never going to happen anyway. Sorry for all this," she says, regaining her composure.

"It's fine. That's vot friends are for, right? I'm sure everything vill be fine. Remus made some mistakes in the past, but he's a good person. He von't hurt you or Kiora. He married you. He loves you and he'll alvays put his family first. He's that kind of person."

Hermione smiles and squeezes Viktor's hand, before moving the subject back to happier territory. "So, tell me more about Bulgaria! I'm still disappointed I've not seen it yet. Will you and Regulus have a house or an apartment?"

Viktor smiles, happy to see that his friend looks a little better and for the chance to talk about Regulus. "I have an apartment for us in Sofia. It's a few towns avay from vere I grow up. It's close to the pitch I have practice at so I'll never have to be that far avay, unless there's a game, and in that case, Regulus vill be there to vatch. I can't catch the snitch vithout my number von fan to cheer me on, can I?"

Hermione giggles. "Of course not! I'm sure Regulus would fly anywhere in the world to cheer you on, though, so I doubt you'd have much to worry about there. An apartment sounds nice. I suppose that's what Remus and I will end up with, until we can save for a house. Hopefully that won't take too long, we want Kiora to grow up somewhere with a yard to play in, of course."

Viktor smiles because this conversation got a lot happier all of a sudden. Everyone likes happy. "Yeah. I vould vant that for our kid too. It's a lot easier to teach them how to fly ven you have a big backyard," he says with a laugh, even though he's dead serious. Very serious indeed.

"I couldn't imagine you even trying to raise a child on a property that has no room for a Quidditch picth," she giggles. "Well, I don't know if we need something that big - I just want somewhere for Kiora to be able to run around. And any little brothers or sisters she ends up with, of course."

"I'm sure Regulus and I vill end up in a house vith a big, open field von day. Ven he's out of school and everything. The apartment vill be fine at first, considering Regulus von't be there during the year," he said sadly.

"You two are really going to miss each other, huh?" Hermione says, squeezing his hand again. "When we were talking about it before, I told Regulus he needs to get more creative with letters and really look forward to Hogsmeade weekends, but he just flipped out and insisted I kill him then and there. I didn't, by the way," she says offhandedly, just in case Viktor worries.

Viktor chuckled lightly. "Vell thanks. For not killing him, I mean. Creative letter writing, huh? I'll keep that in mind. I'll miss not being able to see him every day though. Though it shouldn't be as bad for him since he has those pictures I gave him," he says absentmindedly, not realizing he was saying that last part out loud because Alex is giggling at what Hermione's reaction will be.

"Pictures?" Hermione says, eyes wide. Then she turns red as a quaffle, looks away, looks back, looks away again, looks back again, and promptly collapses in a fit of hysterical laughter. "You didn't mean to say that last part aloud, did you?" she gasps, rolling around on the grass with tears of mirth streaming down her face.

Hermione arches an eyebrow. "Well, I hope Regulus has some decent wards around his bed, then. Of course, you'd just shrug and start autographing them if copies turned up all over the school, wouldn't you?" she smirks in return.
