Hermione sighs, frustrated by the fact that she doesn't speak dog. "Come here, Padfoot," she commands quietly, holding out her hand with the promise of more pats. "What's the matter, hmm? You want to be our puppy, too? Is that it? You want to be Kiora's pup?"

Padfoot walks over and nods, giving her sad puppy eyes. "Arf?"

"Ok then," Hermione smiles, scratching under his chin. "I'll get you your own collar and everything," she jokes. "Actually, would you mind watching Kiora for us for a while? In a couple of days... Remus is a little stressed with study right now, and I've got something unavoidable that I don't want to take her along to if I can help it." She gives him her most hopeful look.

[I just threw that in there because it just occurred to me that I need to get Kiora out of the way when Phase 2 of our Epic Plan goes down...]

"I'll take that as a yes," Hermione snorts. "Thanks, Sirius. I really appreciate it." She waits for him to tire himself out, wondering if he ever makes himself dizzy, doing that.

"WOOF!" Padfoot runs back up to her, nuzzling her ankles and jumping to Viktor, going "ARF! ARF! ARF!" because Happy Dog is happy.

Hermione gives Viktor a look that screams 'oh, thanks'. "Not after you've been running around in the mud all day, Padfoot. Puppy dogs belong in kennels. Besides, there's just not enough room for you on the bed." She shrugs. That's life - anyone who agrees to let a dog sleep in the bedroom has clearly already kissed their sex life goodbye. Maybe when Kiora gets a big girl bed, though....

"Puppies. Do. Not. Belong. In. Kennels. That is just wrong," Viktor says sternly as he goes back to rubbing Padfoot's belly.

"If Padfoot lived vith me and I didn't share a bed vith his brother, Regulus, he vould so be able to sleep in the bed with me. But I do, so he'd probably get his own bed and his own bedroom because I'm a good dog owner."

Hermione snorts. "Well, I'm more concerned with making sure my daughter has a bedroom to begin with. Besides, when she gets out of her crib, maybe she'll let him curl up on her bed."

Padfoot barks excitedly at this idea and runs about in a circle, because he can be a real guard dog, yes he can, arf arf arf.

"Fine, fine," Hermione laughs. Secretly she's kind of glad, knowing someone will be close to Kiora and looking out for her. "But you get to wash all your doggy hair off the quilt cover!"

Padfoot barks happily at Viktor and wonders why he has to be sleeping with his brother, because being roommates with Viktor would be awesome.

"Well if you've got so much time on your hands, you can come wash mine," Hermione says, poking her tongue out at Viktor. "Somehow I think I'll have enough on my plate, just trying to put food on our plates when we get out of here. Padfoot should count himself lucky I'm willing to cook him people food! Muggles feed their dogs food from tins, you know."

Viktor chuckled. "Don't think so. I only do my laundry...and my dog's laundry," he said with a nod, scratching Padfoot behind the ears again. "Do you think Reg vould mind sleeping on the couch? That vay Padfoot could sleep in the bed vith me. Less laundry. It'd be much easier," he joked.

Hermione gives Viktor a funny look, because she knows how much he loves Regulus, and couldn't imagine him willingly parting with him. But she dismisses the thought with a little smile. "I'm pretty sure I know what Regulus would say to that, actually, and I don't think you're in luck."
