He kisses the top of her head. "It's alright love. I'm still here, I'm not leaving. You just have to get it all out of your system, wash everything away, it'll take some time to heal but I know you can." He gently tilts her chin up and brushes some hair away from her eyes. "You're beautiful you know."

I don't feel like it right now. I feel like I need a bath - an acid bath preferably, and... I don't know, I just wish I could start again. Draw a line under everything and pretend I'm working on a fresh sheet of parchment...

He understood, he wished he could just scratch everything out from the past couple weeks and start over as well. But that wasn't how life worked unfortunately.
He had an idea and stood up bringing Hermione up with him. "I have an idea. Let's go." He pulled gently on her hand as he backed up heading towards the castle.

"Could be better." He rubbed his forehead gently on her shoulder and groaned. "I ran into Snape while walking. Why does he have to be everywhere? I told him he should be happy I could control myself yesterday or he would look a lot worse than he already did at the moment. He just apologized and I would have yelled at him about saying all that stuff to you yesterday but my head hurt so I just told him off."

Oh... sorry... Thanks for defending me, even though you don't have to. They're just words, shouldn't let them get to me. And I guess I can see where he's coming from, even if I don't agree with it, don't think I should take all the blame myself...

He looks up at her and kisses her on the tip of her nose. "Better now that you're here." He buries his head into her shoulder. "I'm proud of you love."

He moved quickly before she even had time to process what was happening and was practically on top of her pinning her arms down so she couldn't fight him. "Hermione Granger you're thinking that you may be disappointing me again aren't you? You're way better at keeping things under control than me and you know it. Right now you just have to get past this hurdle but then you'll be back to normal in no time and you'll have to deal with me whining all the time again." He kissed her on the lips then moved to her neck. "You aren't disappointing me love." He kissed the hollow at the base of her neck and sucked on it gently but rough enough that he knew it would leave a mark later.

*She'd argue if she wasn't completely distracted now, and would hug him if her arms weren't pinned to her side now, but she can't do either of those things so she just lays there and enjoys the attention, watching the stars twinkle down at them. There was still that little voice of doubt in the back of her head though, and she wondered if she would ever really get rid of it*
